I told myself at one point that I would never go over 100 bottles and here I am with 99 fragrances. I am waiting for Amouage Fate to come my way and that would be number 100! Then I will have to sell off some of the losers in my collection (face it, we all have some.) Problem is there are several more I want and I will be traveling to San Francisco again this week. How to restrain myself...

Do you have a self imposed limit? (NOTE: This is not a question for Hednic! LOL)

I was in your shoes, vowing that the madness must stop at 100. Now, I find myself at 110 (sob). Somebody needs to open a camp! 😄😀😭

I know I'm in the minority here, but I find that I must keep my "permanent collection" to under 10 fragrances. Anything more than that, and I start to feel a bit anxious and guilty for not being able to wear them often enough.

I have a sort of limit, yes. I get anxious as well when my collection grows over 30 bottles. I'm at around 26 right now. I just sold off 3 or 4 bottles over the last week, so I basically just try to sell if I want to make room for more. That way I don't keep an ever swelling collection, which just frustrates me to no end. 30 bottles and under is my happy place.

You are in a good minority. I wish I could do the same but the collector instinct is strong in me. Always searching for the unobtainable. I would guess that half my collection consists of things that helped me learn about what I like, and no longer fit into my scheme. I need to unload some but it's so hard to reduce a collection. I find that I reach for the niche and more expensive scents most with a few exceptions.

Space and the amount I have spent are two big factors for me, not the bottle count. Essentially I would like to only have around 40 bottles...I'm somewhere around 70 right now. The problem is, it's kind of a pain to sell stuff...finding time to ship etc.

I share the same view as ChuckW , 30 or so is good for me. I have a family whos needs come before my need to smell good, and at some point Im just collecting to collect... instead of enjoy. Theres nothing wrong with collecting for those with the means to do so.

Yes. My limit was 20. Then 30. Then 50. Then 100. Then I stopped imposing limits after 250! I do think that my buying days are coming to an end (or certainly slowing down). I have no idea exactly how many bottles I currently have, but I know it is close to or just over 300. I have taken to buying small decants now; I figure that I probably won't use more than 10 - 20ml of a fragrance in my lifetime, so can invest funds into other areas of interest.

    I don't know....

I'm around 63 bottles right now and there's 2 that I have been eyeing (1899 and Cuir Ottoman). But I think before I get those, I'll get rid of some other stuff. I'm realizing that once you have over about 35, you just don't get to wear everything that much and a lot of stuff goes to waste.

There's a lot of stuff that smells good, but doesn't wear so well or they're not that versatile...and these are the ones that I'll probably get rid of in the next year or so. I'd like to get it down to about 40 or 35. But that's hard.

A little while ago I sold off 25 bottles. It felt great. But since then I've easily purchased 10 or more. Now I'm moving right back to where I started. And with the exception of maybe 5 fragrances, I really like everything in my collection--but whether or not they get enough use is another story.

Take Ambre Precieux for example--I love it. It's beautiful. But I can barely find the occasion to wear it. And it's kind of depressing seeing it sit there on the shelf, going to waste. At the same time, the idea of parting with it is hard to swallow.

However, for the past few weeks I've been basically rotating 4 scents, and it works well. It's easier to choose in the morning, I'm familiar with how they perform and know they'll work for me on that day, and it's a different feeling when you have a kind of signature scent. But what about the one day I want to wear Pear and Olive? Some time in the winter when I'm bored out of my mind and looking for some variation in my routine? Spraying from samples or decants doesn'tsatisfy me like spraying from the real bottle. And that's probably why I'm stuck hovering between 50 and 70--those odd days that pop up throughout the year and demand something completely different.

    We'll see...

I had a limit of 15. Then it was 30. Then I bumped it up to 60, then 100.

I am now near 160 full bottles. I gave up.

The full bottles aren't the problem - it's the 500 samples / splits / etc. that are keeping me from enjoying my full bottles!

I am afraid to go home and count. I have 17 pair of Pumas, so perhaps I am a tad obsessive :P
