Has this happen to you??
I'm at Nordstrom. I ask about a certian cologne. I like opinons. She tells me "It's what you like" is her answer. Have any of you ran into this??
Its pretty hard to get real opinions from them. Thats why all the places I go right when I see someone I drop in a comment like "I collect cologne on a scrub level ive smelt a good amount of stuff so you dont need to lie". And usually that helps me get better opinions, and then they will be more forward with telling me stuff they actually hate etc. Which 99% of the time includes A*men lol.
If were on the subject of knowledge generally most dont seem to have much more of a opinion then I like this or that. But I did talk to one recently when I told her im into cologne she actually brought up reformulations and started getting in depth with me quite a bit and I was surprised myself lol.
In my business, while people may not understand or appreciate, I am very non committal when asked for an opinion. As mentioned above, it can be a catch-22.
If I give my opinion to a client, there is always a possibility it can come back and bite me in the butt, so I would rather not take that chance. Personally, I do not see a problem with what the SA had said.
You would come off as phony and whorish like most other retail slaves. It's this lack of personality that causes me to do most of my shopping online, at least anonymous posters tend to tell you what they actually think.
