  Hey, I have been a web surfer of this website for quite a while now. Today is the day  I became a full pledged member (yAaAaAaY). I feel like I am on a quest, a journey to find a musk perfume or oil that I would be willing to abandon all other frangrances for. I am willing to sacrifice a paycheck if need be to be with my unfound love (& eat hotdogs for a month). I need help along my way....so hey YOU...HELP!:cheesy:

    Welcome!

Load's of stuff out there but a good place to start would be:

Absolue pour le Soir - Honey laced cumin powered skank, with a crotchy twist at drydown. Don't let the description put you off, it's ever so comforting and interesting.

Kiehl's Original Musk - Quite animalic floral musk blend, very good and reasonably priced.

Muscs Koublai Khan - Skanky animalic musk opening to a floral/musk heart.

Leather Oud - Warm animalics blended with oud smoke and a touch of leather.

Musc Ravageur - Animalic musk and clove top transitioning to a spiced vanilla heart. Not my favourite, but gets a lot of love on here.

All very different and wonderful, worth seeking to sample.

    Good luck with your journey.

For a cheap thrill you could try Smell Bent's Commando (oil). It's mainly a blend of musks that goes some way in approximating Lutens' MKK.

Thx for the list Mick_Trick. I've read a lot of ranting and raving about MKK. It seems to be the biggest baddest !$#%$^%^%@%$ out there so I am thinking of trying that one first. I like the ones that make you think "hmm..this could be for a man or a woman".

Welcome to you! Just to add to Mick's wonderful list:

    Musc Tonkin
    Musk to Musk
    Wave Musk

Gandhajala,,,,,OOOhhh well I must try that first then!! CORRECTION::: I read that Ajmals Musk Gazelle was the %$%$@^%$#%&^&%#% out there. And that MKK was next in line. But I'm about to Google the "Smell Bent's Commando", thankya.

Second what's been said above. But as said, Musc Ravageur opens dirty, but then transforms itself into a non-musky, smooth vanilla spice. So for long lasting musk you have to look into the others.

In terms of price, it's hard to beat the Kiehls. Not as complex as MKK or the others, but perfectly fine. And there's also the old YSL Kouros. The current version is a little cleaned up (though I think it still preserves some of the locker room atmosphere), but if you find a reasonably priced vintage, it'll satisfy the cravings.

To the list, I'd add Le Labo Oud, possibly the dirtiest up top, though it becomes cleaner and woodier as it goes.

    Musc Ravageur by Frederich Malle.

I agree with all the great suggestions. I'd add Amouage Gold pour Homme, animalic and sophisticated scent.

You said the vintage would satisfy my !CRAVING!....bc it would contain real civet and the others wouldn't ..right?? In all my googling, never heard of Kiehls or Le Labo Oud, thanks for those suggestions. ""I WANT CIVET! I WANT CIVET! I WANT CIVET!"" #illegal #rulesRmade2Bbroken

I'm also a big fan of the Kiehl's, and the edp spray is dirtier than the oil.

Lately I've been loving Bruno Acampora's Musc. It now also comes in a spray, but I prefer the oil - the spray is a lot heavier on the patchouli. Not bad, just a little different.

Also, has anyone tried Musc Tonkin by Parfum d'Empire? I was hearing that that was pretty dirty, but haven't smelled it myself.

You could try Montale Musk to Musk. The notes are white musk, nutmeg, aoud, teak wood, precious woods, grey amber and musk.

I'm a huge fan of the Acampora Musc and love it most in oil form.

I've sampled the Musc Tonkin and don't entirely know what all the "musk" fuss is about. It seems primarily indolic to me. VERY floral.

Dzing! has not been mentioned, and it may fit your warm/animal criteria as well. I adore Absolue Pour le Soir and Musc Ravageur (though I won't spring for a full bottle as L de Lolita is so similar)

ETA: I am just about to pull the trigger on the animalic/skank sampler set at surrendertochance.com because I NEED to try MKK, Bal a Versailles, and L'Air de Rien.
