Yes i know about this thread, but there is no info about methyl ionone mixture.

Maybe i can prepare it myself from individual ionones, but there will be much more ionones than i have. From what i have found there is at least in the mixture: alpha, alpha-iso, beta, etc..

Google "Methyl Ionone suppliers", there are any number.   When something is described as "alpha methyl ionone" it doesn't mean that it is pure sample of that isomer.   It just means that the major component is the alpha isomer.   Similarly for "gamma Methyl Ionone", the major component is the gamma isomer.   When you buy a sample of any Ionone (indeed any chemical) you should receive a document called the MSDS, and that should tell you the proportions of the isomers in that mixture.   Various companies manufacture Methyl Ionone , and each company produces a different mix of isomers.   It is up to you to decide which ones you want.

    Thanks,

i have found "Methyl ionone" inside of the Poucher's book "The Production, Manufacture, and Application of Perfumes" ( Parma Violet , Victoria Violet formula ) or in pkiller Violet formula . But there is no more info about company manufacture, so i will try any random mixture.

Before you use any material in your fragrance you must smell it and decide if it is what you want.   A Perfumer knows his smells.

    I agree with you,

perfume preparation from formula is not easy as i have thought, but i will keep trying, smelling and ... throwing.

    hexapus.nl sells methyl ionone (iso)

Jan was also kind enough to help me in sourcing some alpha methyl ionone extra as a special order, which I needed for a specific formula, and could find available nowhere. It's lovely stuff actually and slightly different from the iso, a very clean elegant violet with a dry edge to it and a slight honey-like dry down. I love it.

(I also have extra if anybody needs/wants some. PM please as we can't do splits etc. on this forum)

Actually I liked this special alpha methyl ionone better than the much, much more expensive Irone alpha, but then: maybe I have a cheap taste ;).
