For me only 3 were opened and used, while 20+ perfumes not open for use ie in purchased conditions. I resisted to open them. It is so hard to resist. However, I feel contented just by looking at those unopened perfumes.

Maybe if the bottle was really pretty? But why not? It's a fragrance, you are supposed to smell it!

Of course, they're meant to be used. I open them as soon as I get them.

If I wanted to only have 3 opened to use, I would only own those 3 and buy the others when I actually planned on using them.

Perhaps this has something to do with the issue of whether one is more of a collector or a user. I personally can kind of see where the OP is coming from (as a collector myself), but can also see that the consensus view in this thread is by far the more logical for this particular hobby.

The hardest part to endure opening them is when I am looking through reviews. But when you know opening the perfume and they will never be in the unused condition again, I resisted.

If you never open them, you will never truly enjoy them.

I can understand the joy from collecting.....whether it be fragrances, wine....watches etc. If you do have a plan to open them in the future, that is great, but if you have no intention of ever opening them......that I cannot understand.

Bingo!  I echo many on this board, but back up bottles are the exception to the rule...  I do, however, keep all of the bottles in the original boxes for added protection.
