Well, I have good news and bad news.
I had a scent bar sample that I tried this morning. I liked it on the scent strip actually in the shop and really enjoyed it, which is why I got a sample.
The good news: on my skin I actually got pretty good sillage and longevity. So much so, in fact, that my wife could smell me from rooms apart.
Which brings me to the bad news. She absolutely hated it and thought it was vile, and she generally has a nose that I trust (she is a perfumista herself and loves Habit rouge edp, vintage bel ami, fetish extrait, etc. on my skin). For her, there was something dissonant in the woods and patchouli, a sort of ashy note that she found overbearing. I personally liked it more than she did, but she insisted that I scrub it immediately (the only other similar reaction she had to a fragrance like that was MFK Amyris, go figure).
So basically, I feel like this one is going to be very different on different people's skin, and I also think it is worth sampling at home (as opposed to in a fragrance store, which can generate olfactory fatigue rather quickly) to get a sense of how powerful it is, how long it lasts, and more importantly, whether it works on your skin!
