Making a lemon scent last.

    Making a lemon scent last.

My only interest is LEMON scent.I've tried Boucheron EDP,YSL PH HC and they're not even close.Hadrien Absolu is not bad but still not what I'm looking for.Closest is Monsieur Balmain but it doesn't last.Ideally it would be 4711 or Guerlain Imperiale but 15 minute longevity is unacceptable. Can you suggest an odorless fixative I can add to these last 2 to improve longevity ?.BTW, I've perfected the art of removing the spritzer apparatus from these bottles to add lemon essential oil to the Boucheron and YSL but results are still far off the mark. Grateful for any advice.

Your best option is to keep reapplying throughout the day

Apply a fragrance free moisturiser lotion to the areas of skin you normally apply your EDT to; give it a couple of minutes to dry off......

Then apply your fragrance to these treated areas..... see if that improves things for you.

Sorry, can`t really add something new. But your "removing technique" could be of a certain interest (I love giving oakmoss back to my reformulated scents while using the original bottle). Is it possible to remove it and put it back again?

The lotion trick is not bad. On me sometimes it works - sometimes not. I`d tend to go on overdose with citruses :-)

Atomizer also to apply throughout the day..

    Most citrus scents are light

Removing the spritzer apparatus requires hacksaw, screwdriver, and pliers thus destroying spritzer.Thereafter a small cork is required to seal bottle.

Don't believe in applying moisturizing. It doesn't help at all. Hedonist has the only correct solution. Keep reapplying.

I love that you revive reformulated casualties, by replenishing with oakmoss!

Good morning Hedonist! Mainly Mitsouko parfum; and Azzaro pour Homme; Paco Rabanne pour Homme; Kouros; Bandit could be worth a try. Doing it where I have reference bottles. It surely doesn`t turn them into vintage perfume (vintage Azzaro is still MUCH sweeter& spicier)but gives them a more complicated feel and definitely more staying power. I`m taking part at the Hyraceum Experiment of Profumo.it on BN. Let`s see what happens. Whish you a nice day!

If you're looking for other lemon scents, two wonderful onesare Eau de Rochas ("crisp and bright") and Chanel Allure homme edition blanche ("creamy").

I agree with Hedonist - the only way is to reapply frequently. Lemon is very volatile, and there's no way to make the scent last all day. If it were possible to add an odorless fixative to Imperiale and make it last much longer, Guerlain would have done it already. You're not going to discover something perfumers don't know about.

Eule - where do you get the oakmoss and in what form?

How does the old maxim go? Citral with sulfur makes lemons last ____er? I like pulling things from thin air, as you may have guessed. Anyway, sulfur is heavier than carbon, so replacing the carbon in citral (is it citral, I forget) with sulfur makes lemon last forever. But then you run the risk of some people saying that the product smells of skunk. I'm not helping, am I?

Hi Rubegon, sorry, didn`t see it till now. I tried a thick-brownish absolute that was complicated to handle. So I didn`t wnat to run the risk of ruining guerlain extraits with it. Then I ordered a sample in my local apothecary of 99.8 % Oakmoss essential oil that is of a light green colour and did a mix. Had no other choice than ordering what seemed to be the purest, oilyest & most expensive one. It mixes completely with the Mitsy and otherswithout leaving any stains or something. So I ordered about 25 ml of it which should last some years. I think it`s still easy to get. And it smells absolutely beautiful.

Is it possible to have a atomizer with just yourlemon essential oilbooster and spray it over the Boucheron?

Hanae Mori - H.M. might be an option.
