Pears, about to call it a day and put my feet up now. A long day of paperwork has taken its toll!
So briefly - if you look at Olfactiks website - look at the 4th image on that slider - which says - "one of the largest retail product ranges in Europe". Those products in that 4th image are from a UK company who wholesale both naturals and synthetics - this companies name begins with the letter E. I write this because they peddle inferior/cut, bergamot for about 50GBP per kilo as well as Red Thyme for a similar sum - Go direct to Reggio Calabria and from memory I think you are looking at over 100GBP per kilo - COST - for Bergamot FCF, minimum, and that’s if you pile a pallet up ( I looked into it in the Summer).
In defence of Olfactik this supplier has a slick sales person so it’s understandable if Olfactik have fallen for the B.S sales patter, however they should stop offering it or better, address the issues raised directly with you.
As for me and my minimums, nice try Pears but if anything I badly want to raise my minimums. My thinking is 20GBP is not a big issue considering all that we make available, more so in instances like this because you are effectively getting peace of mind and assurances that everything will be as it should - that surely has a value right?
Pears, I’ll help you out though on grounds I am an admirer of your posts - learning lots from reading what you write, got a feeling you have been eating books for breakfast!!! If you PM me your address - best through BN - then I’ll make sure we send you a Bergamot FCF in the post on Tuesday/Wednesday next week and if you fancy it I'll pop in a few other random naturals for you to sample in return for your opinions - in your own time of course.
Gecko - Just got your reply in my inbox whilst I’m writing this so I’ll answer now. With Europe the minimum is 50GBP plus delivery. I again hear what you say but admit I can’t give the answer I think you seek. Personally speaking I think Hermi now gives a lot of options to those who reside in Europe and want to buy from a trusted Europe based business. I sincerely have ploughed any profits Hermi makes into expanding my product range - and I have done this for the last 3 years without a break. I just re-invest over and over again and am continually finding and developing rapports with producers.
I put money behind lots and lots of small producer businesses in mainland Europe, especially the artisan distiller types – who many don’t consider due to price and materials offered not being mainstream enough - and then offer much of it in teeny sizes - say 1ml with little premiums compared to buying say 10mls - something that rarely happens. We also contribute to the postage costs for every single order that goes out into mainland Europe at the moment – which is getting addressed as its killing us. Example – today we sent an order to Belgium – 21 bottles of product where ordered, most in 1-3ml sizes with one 50ml bottle. The order value was close to the minimum and our charge to post was nearly 15GBP yet we charge 8.99GBP meaning 6GBP of any profits just got eaten up by the postage cost. Honestly Gecko, making money when selling into Europe is not that easy and as such we have to have that min spend in place. I do see your point and I am genuinely sorry but the minimums have to stay in place.
