Hanae Mori Magical Moon proceeds to go to benefit the League of Women Voters
To mark the 35th anniversary of Congress's passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) on March 22, 1972, Hanae Mori Parfums announces that a portion of the proceeds from sales of Hanae Mori Magical Moon fragrance and body lotion in August (Madame Mori's birth month) will benefit the League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization working to impact public policy through citizen education and advocacy. (In other months, a portion of sales will benefit U.S. public schools.)

The rallying cry of a generation, ERA was passed by Congress in 1972, but it has never been ratified by the necessary two-thirds of U.S. states in order to become part of the United States Constitution. ERA has been reintroduced in every session of Congress since 1972. The wording of the ERA is: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex."

The life of Madame Hanae Mori is a story of one woman's triumph over daunting odds. Her one-woman boutique opened in Tokyo in 1955 became a $500 million global fashion business by the 1990's. She is Japan's most successful female fashion designer, the only Japanese woman to show her fashion collections in New York and Paris and the only Japanese woman admitted to France's haute couture syndicate. She is Japan's most powerful businesswoman in any industry. The name "magical moon" is taken from her lifelong pattern of drawing and designing late into the night, inspired by the luminescence of the moon.end of article
