by Grant Osborne, 26 March 2007

Jacques Courtin-Clarins, founder of the Clarins Company, passed away last Thursday at his home in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.

Mr Courtin founded the Clarins company in 1954, when he opened the first Clarins Institute de Beaute in Paris. In fifty years, he turned Groupe Clarins into a major player in the prestige cosmetics industry, whose brands included Thierry Mugler and Azzaro.

His motto, "To do more, to do better and enjoy doing so" will continue to be the motto of his two sons, Christian and Oliver, of his grand-daughters and of his 6000 employees.end of article
