Xerjoff adds three new fragrances to line
by Danielle Cooper, 08 December 2007

XXY (pictured) features bergamot, grapefruit, peach, ylang-ylang, jasmine de Grasse, orris, black pepper, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, labdanum, vanilla beans and musk.
XXY is inspired by the story of Hermaphrodite, a greek myth about the son of Hermes and Aphrodite. The young man was beautiful and on his travels a nymph named Salmacis fell hopelessly in love with him. When he rejected her she threw herself on him in an embrace and begged the gods to ensure that they never parted. The two bodies fused and became one being. Italian sculptor Marco Gas has drawn on this inspiration to create a statue of two bodies merged as one, in the base of which is the XXY fragrance.
17/17 Ensamble opens with bergamot, Florida Orange and ciste labdano; the middle notes consist of neroli, orange flowers and petitgrain. The fragrance drys into basenotes of oud, palisanderwood (Lacanda brasillana), benzoine, tonka, amber, styrax absolute and musk.
Finally 17/17 Irisss begins on top notes of bergamot, carrot heart and carnation flowers, leading into middle notes of rose absolute, jasmine, ylang-ylang heart, iris oil and leaves of viola before giving way to base notes of vetiver, cedarwood, benzoine, musk and frankincense oil.
The original 17/17 fragrance is available as a masculine or feminine scent. 17/17 Homme (right) opens with bergamot, lemon, orange, mandarin, grapefruit, caraway, tarragon and ginger; middle notes consist of lavender, rose, iris and cloves. The base notes include amber, rose santal, vanilla beans, vetiver, birch and musks.
17/17 Elle (left) shares some of Homme's characteristics and opens with bergamot, lily of the valley, neroli and galbanum. Once again iris and rose feature in the middle notes alongside patchouli and jasmin. Coumarin, amber, tonkiphora balsam and musks complete the female 17/17.
Sergio Momo, the founder of Xerjoff, designed bottles for the fragrance sculpted in quartz and embellished with 18 carat gold, that are stored in handmade wooden boxes, accented with gold leaf. There are also 250 limited edition Murano glass bottles, all individually numbered and presented on an ebony base.
The line is available at selected stockists including Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie at Harrods in London, Osswald in Zurich, Douglas Rivoli in Russia and in Italy through the official website, www.xerjoff.com![]()
