Hanae Mori extends distribution to Mars
Pioneering fashion designer Hanae Mori - the first Japanese woman to show her collections on the runways of Paris and New York - has reached new heights: the planet Mars.

Hanae Mori's name is among those inscribed on a silica glass mini-DVD implanted on the NASA spacecraft (called Phoenix) that landed on Mars yesterday. The names project is an effort of the Planetary Society.

Japan's most successful female entrepreneur has long drawn inspiration from the natural world, earthly and celestial.  Her 2007 fragrance, Magical Moon, was one of her best-selling.
