Guerlain, Kenzo, Dior and Givenchy banned from eBay

Guerlain, Kenzo, Dior and Givenchy banned from eBay
Following up the recent news article, LVMH have succeeded in its battle with eBay. The Paris Commercial Court have ordered eBay to cease selling perfumes and cosmetics bearing the Dior, Guerlain, Givenchy and Kenzo brand names, failing which eBay would incur penalty payments of  €50,000 per day.

The injunction requires that eBay must stop the sale of the four brands on eBay sites accessible from France.

Despite the focus of the case on fakes, the ruling means that sale of genuine LVMH fragrances are prohibited, which includes unwanted gifts and we assume vintage Guerlain fragrances which are no longer produced by the comapny.

Further discussion of this case can be found at this Basenotes Community thread, which includes contributions from eBay's Jim Griffiths.  end of article
