April will see the launch of Bond's spring offering - Astor Place.  The fragrance is a tribute to the area of NYC between Broadway and Third Avenue and 14th and Houston Streets.  Early 19th Century philanthropist, John Jacob Astor, lent his name to an area of the City adorned with Greek revival townhouses, the Cooper Union building, the Public Theater (once Astor Library) and - since 1967 - Tony Rosenthal's Alamo or 'Cube'.  

The Cube is the inspiration for the design on the star-shaped bottle, which is gold and features a geometric multi-coloured pattern.  For an extra special mother's day gift the same design is available accented with Swarovski crystals. Basenotes had a fun sneak peek at the 'magic' folding cube, in bold colours to mirror the Astor Place flacon, which Bond are using to promote the fragrance.

The juice itself begins with violet leaf and mandarin zest.  This fresh and bright burst gives way to a floral heart of freesia, red poppy buds and orris.  The drydown features teakwood, musk and amber.

Available in 100ml and 50ml sizes, the fragrance will retail for $220 and $145 respectively.  The limited edition Swarovski flacon is available in 100ml size and has a suggested retail price of $300.  Available from Bond's four New York City boutiques, www.bondno9.com and Saks Fifth Avenue throughout America from April 2009.
