Debut candle from Alexa Rodulfo
by Grant Osborne, 25 March 2009

“Artists are always looking for that something to be inspire by” Rodulfo says. “For me, even when I’m doing hair and makeup, a beautiful scent has always been a constant inspiration.” Scents remind her of places, of exotic locations, of fantastic memories and beautiful emotions. “I’ve always been fascinated by how a scent can capture a moment in time, and bring back a flood of memories: perfumery deals with emotions. It can transport you to your dreams.”
‘Mixing and blending fragrance components to create the perfect accord” Rodulfo says, “I source for the finest materials and finest ingredients to make the perfect olfactory expression in my first scent Bois d’Alexa.”
The candle opens with Succulent Orange, Fresh Nutmeg and Clove Leaves. Its heart is Cinnamon Blossom, Cedarwood, Rich Vetiver, and Guaiacwood. It comes to a close with a dry down of White Musk, Oakmoss, Leather, and Vanilla.
Rodulfo says: “I wanted to create something unique, mysterious and strong – but not overpowering. I wanted to create something beautiful; that once you become captivated by the scent, it will remind you and take you to a place that you have been before. You don’t quite know where, but you know it is a place of calm and pleasure."
These handcrafted scented candles are specially created and poured in Grasse, France by historical candle makers, using lead-free wicks, made with 100% cotton. Each candle is incased in a black French glass with an elegant lead-free pewter lid. The burning time approximately 50 hours.
The Alexa Rodulfo collection will be available at Aedes de Venustas New York, Colette Paris, Saks Mexico and Aida in Qatar. More information can be found on the website.
