Hanami - Ayala Moriel's interpretation of a poem
Ayala Sender is one of 15 perfumers who were invited by Memory & Desire blog editor Heather Ettlinger to interpret a poem through scent.  Sender's contribution to the project is Hanami - named for the Japanese tradition of flower viewing.  The perfumer describes the fragrance as being "about the contrast of the botanical and the urbane; betwen real life and still-life."

The listed notes are cabreuva, frangipani, mimosa and rosewood in the top, pink lotus, magnolia, tuberose, violet leaf and oleander in the heart and vetiver, tonka bean, cassie, siamwood, vanilla CO2, copaiba balsam and bakul attar in the base.

The season for 'Hanami' is March through April according to location and weather, hence this spring launch.  The new scent is now available online priced at $160 for 9ml of parfum extrait, and can also be seen at Ayala Moriel's Perfume Exhibit at Blunda on April 18th, 2009.  Every bottle is accompanied by a postcard featuring original photography of cherry blossoms in Vancouver - the inspiration behind the scent.  end of article
