Boss in Motion White Edition, new limited edition fragrance from Hugo Boss

Will Andrews, part of the Fragrance Creation Team at P&G Prestige recently gave a speech at the launch of the fragrance which he kindly shared with us. Here is part in which he tells us more about the design of the bottle, which has won several design awards:

...for a pack which looks so simple and pure it wasn’t so easy to develop.  Internally, our team had never tackled anything quite so complex, with most packs being a simple glass bottle, pump and cap.

If I open it up, you can see the metal shell has an injection-moulded technical chassis, the glass is a custom design, and the whole thing needs to be automatically assembled.  It took many weeks of line trials and testing to get the whole mechanism operating efficiently.

Interestingly, in the early days, we received some packs returned, with the actuator – this little orange spray tip – knocked out of line.  We carried-out some tests and simply couldn’t understand how it could happen in normal use, until we dropped one on the floor – yes – you guessed it:  people were throwing these things at each other.
