    Introducing new fragrance line:

by Grant Osborne, 02 October 2006

    Introducing new fragrance line:
Basenotes is excited to announce a new perfume brand: LesNez. LesNez is the brainchild of René Schifferle, a long-time fragrance aficianado. Read on to find out more about the new line, and how you can obtain samples. [sample offer now closed]

The first three fragrances from the range were created by Annick Goutal perfumer, Isabelle Doyen, and they are:

    The Unicorn Spell (Green Floral)
"Basically a "Violette" long overdue - starts cool and green gets warmer in the note de corps and base. We think younger people will find this new interpretation quite interesting."

Isabelle writes: If by dawn still linger on your skin mixed scents of leaves, frost and violet blooms, and that relentless yearning for stellar sights, you will know that, at night, you felt the milky breath of a unicorn.

Let me Play the Lion ... (Warm Wood)
From the Play inside the Play in Midsummer-Nights Dream
    "Let me play the lion too: I will roar, that I will do any man's heart good to hear me;
I will roar, that I will make the duke say 'Let him roar again, let him roar again.'"
Of course the scene ends with " I will roar as gently as a dove"

    Isabelle writes:
    Scents of dusty trails,
    Of lightly sweetened ochre,
    Of sun-weathered wood,
Of silence swept by mild breezes,
Of skies open like an endless azure cut oozing signs of the coming storm.

    L'Antimatière (Animalic)
No Headnote - Unconventional exercise in Minimalism - Sexy - Dirty
Isabelle has been working on this little project for about ten years. It is unmarketable by conventional standards. But as we want to work primarily with samples and not sell in shops we have decided to give it a go: the quantities of concentré we had to order where acceptable for a little adventure.
"Thou shall not cheat the customer with a misleading headnote" is the reason for the initial shock which goes from alcohol to nothing and starts again after about 30 minutes.

    Isabelle writes:
An invisible ink that leaves a trace,
    Foreseen rather than felt,
    Persistent
    Yet whispered,
Like a creased bed linen scent wandering along your curves...

Would you like to try LesNez for yourself?

René is interested in letting members of the Basenotes Community try these for themselves, he says:

"You are invited to find out for yourself what this is all about. For some of the younger members at BN this will probably be the first encounter with "Niche" or "Avant Garde" and, like Guinness, olives or smelly cheese, its acquired taste.

We have put aside a small budget for Basenoter-samples. You can order via the community by sending a PM to EauxM (you'll need to be logged in), simply stating your mailing address. Please subscribe to the LesNez mailing list in return.[sample offer now closed]

Samples are limited to 500. If you have any questions for René, he will answer them in this thread hereend of article
