New to the US: Italian brand - Profumum

Profumum was started 1996 by the grandchildren of Celestino Durante, a knife cutter, whose family's rich history begins in the tiny Italian town of Sant Elena Sannita, where a bronze statue of a knife cutter is erected. After surviving World War II, Celestino and his wife Luisa left their tiny village and took their family and others to Rome. Today, Celestino's grandchildren, Giuseppe, Luciano, Maria,and Felice oversee all aspects of  Profumum and pay homage to their roots by placing a bronze statue of a knife cutter in their boutiques throughout Rome. Profumum's philosophy is based on the love of transmitting emotions, pleasures, and memories tied to the world of scents.

The eight Profumum scents launched in the US, are:

• Acqua e Zucchero, a sweet blend of orange blossom, wild berries, and vanilla
• Acqua di Sale, an aroma of salt on the skin – myrthle, cedarwood and marine algae
• Antico Caruso, an aroma of the barber shops of another era: citrus, almond, and sandalwood
• Thundra, the scent of ground covered with damp leaves: mint, patchouli and white musk
• Fiore d'Ambra, a sensual mix of amber and opium
• Patchouly, the smell of old wood trunks in the countryside: patchouli and delicate scents of amber sandalwood and incense
• Santalum, the essence of sandalwood with accents of myrrh and cinnamon
• Ichnusa, the warm, dry scent of the Mediterranean in homage to Sardinia: myrthle, fig-tree wood, and cut grass
