Relaunch: Royal Bain de Caron is to be relaunched with original packaging
Caron are relaunching the popular Royal Bain de Caron fragrance in its original packaging.

The fragrances was originally created in 1941 Caron, when it was named Royal Bain de Champagne (the name was voluntarily changed to Royal Bain de Caron in 2001), to satisfy the fickleness of a Californian millionaire who wanted something to replace his sumptuous champagne bath.

It became a sensation overnight, due in part to its reputation of inducing a almost narcotic ‘high’ in its wearers. The fragrance was sprayed at the famous Cotton Club in Harlem before guests entered to get them in the mood and was even burned in voodoo rituals in Haiti.

The secret lies at the heart of this uplifting fragrance. Benzoin comes from an exotic tree native to the Far East and is used in medicine for respiratory conditions to open up the air passages. Here it is mixed with incense and opoponax and wrapped in lilac and rose to produce a truly natural high. At the base lies a soft cedar and cool vanilla giving the fragrance a good depth without dragging down its effervescent qualities.

The bottle was designed by Felicie Wanapouille, Caron's muse, and has been re-created exactly as it was in 1941, as an homage to the Champagne bottle that was its inspiration.end of article
