What are the main features of the site?

Fragrance Directory

We have a database of over 9,500 fragrances for men and women, with details of the perfume house and the year of launch. Basenotes has over 2,300 product images and detailed information on the majority of new releases as well as classic scents. Fragrances can be viewed by name, house or year of launch. Members of the site can build up a 'virtual fragrance wardrobe', which allows them to keep a record of the fragrances they own, have tried, would like or wish to swap.

Discontinued and Hard to find Fragrances

Basenotes knows how frustrating it is when you can no longer find your favourite fragrance. We have a regularly updated list of lines that have been discontinued by the manufacturer, so you can check if your fragrance is still in production. Basenotes also features a 'fragrance wanted message board' where visitors can ask each other for help in finding those long-lost fragrances.

Independent Views

We're not part of some big cosmetics firm, secretly trying to promote certain products. We just want to give the consumer the facts. We actively encourage our visitors to give their personal comments about products featured on the site. Basenotes will publish both the good and the bad reviews. Our reviews total stands at over 20,000.
