La Vie Est Belle by Lancome: Review

by NeonGrey on 12th February 2013 at 02:00 PM
Warning: Graphic Review! Please do not read if you are easily grossed out by bodily functions. This is a respectful and sincere review.

I am not fundamentally against sweet, mass-marketed fragrances. I am a huge fan of Sugar Lychee by Fresh, and though I'm not sure I would ever want to wear it, I am delighted by the crimson raspberry Jello scent of Escada's Cherry In The Air. That said, I still think that if you're gonna do a synthetic gourmand-floral fragrance, you should be mindful

Perfect Vanilla by Sarah Horowitz Parfums- Review

by NeonGrey on 8th February 2013 at 04:48 PM
Thank you Sarah Horowitz Parfums, for the lovely samples.

Perfect Vanilla opens with a strong amber-saturated vanilla, a powerful orange/yellow flower scented from orange sherbet, and a centrally heated, confined interior space with the faintest, almost undetectable trace of lemon disinfectant (buried under the dense vanilla cloud and sherbet layers).

This vanilla is warm and complex, but it is not subtle. It doesnt scream in the way designer vanilla frosting candy

Moss Gown by Providence Perfume Company: Review

by NeonGrey on 6th February 2013 at 03:30 PM
Thank you so much for the sample, Charna Ethier.

Moss Gown is unquestionably "of the Earth." The ingredients are extremely high quality, and the fragrance is so transportive, that I think it should only be used in sacred ceremonies, which is not to say that it's not wearable. It is definitely accessible and delightful to wear.

It's the sweetness of dried grass and sunflower heads that drifts through an open barn door, where you stand in the shade next to

Un Bois Vanille by Serge Lutens Review

by NeonGrey on 6th February 2013 at 02:49 PM
This is what I thought L'Artisan's Havana Vanille would smell like. This is a smoother, more harmonious, cohesive, and pricier version of the same concept. Like Havana Vanille, it too, does not smell like the most natural vanilla, though Un Bois Vanille is warmer and silkier, with the supporting notes lending the slightest amount of depth and complexity in a very complimentary way. That said, Un Bois Vanille still reminds me of a woman with a fresh blow out and highlights, wearing a Tiffany's charm

Gilded Lily by Ineke: Review

by NeonGrey on 6th February 2013 at 02:24 PM
Thank you so much, Ineke for the gorgeous sample collection.

Gilded Lily is dark, sexy, and masculine, yet it miraculously manages to retain a powdery fresh quality, never becoming cloying or sour as it develops on the skin. It only continues to open ever more gracefully, warmed by labdanum in the base. This fragrance is unique and seamless from start to finish.

Gilded Lily perfume is a tough, beautiful, Japanese-Italian girl from Queens. She is exotic and petite,
