I know you've been over 2000 reviews for a while now, but please accept my belated
congratulations for this marvelous feat. Your reviews actually bring fragrances to life and
have inspired me to try many things I would of never considxered. Thank you for all that
you do to make basenotes the great site that it is.
Tova for Men and Eau de Rochas Pour Homme are two of my favorite fragrances
And I am slowly getting towards trying the Frederic Malle and Acqua di Parma lines, thanks for the feedback!
foetidus, your thorough and intricate reviews that bring out the beauty in each fragrance have definitely inspired my reviews, maybe someday we'll be neck and neck for the most reviews
I had one question: What are your favorite citrus scents/which ones last the longest for you?
Thanks in advance!
Congratulations on 2000 reviews - and very good ones they are too!
You are a PEACH to have responded so thoroughly, and I appreciate it. Have just logged on after a bad month and was thrilled to get these responses....from someone whose comments seem to me right on target, insightful, and beautifully written! Thanks! Now, I just got a bottle of "Encre Noir" and have been bathing in it (so to speak) since it arrived. At dinner in Boston Friday night (Hamersley's Bistro) the server (female) made a point of asking me what scent I was wearing. She's been wearing Guerlain's Vetiver and is no longer satisfied. She loved the Encre Noir. I directed her to Basenotes and, more to the point, to Foetidus. Do you have a Facebook fan club yet?
Cheers! and thanks once again!
Hi, F, I've just recently started writing down some thoughts on fragrances and posting them here on Basenotes. I've read many of your reviews and just wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed them. I appreciate your balance of analysis and pleasure. Looking forward to reading more. Best, jtd
Like everyone else I love your comments. With Floris's Vetiver no longer available, is there another you prefer? I am trying to find something that has a lasting vetiver quality, not overpowered, or replaced by citrus!
I lost my father when I was a kid and didn´t get that essential knowledge on colognes and things of that sort, so your reviews have really filled in the blanks for me. You have a fantastic historical knowledge of the industry and pick up all the accents and scents of a fragrance with a lively writing style, I always consult what you say about a fragrance before I buy anything now, and I literally just got into fragrances last month! Thanks!
