I missed something - cut the wrong bit ....

"Asking for samples in AU is like asking a brick to bleed ....."

    Hullo There!
I don't know if you'd remember my Jo Malone story/farce/tragedy/comedy of errors BUT(!) I have an update and had to tell someone who's heard the story!

On a whim I wrote to Jo Malone in a neighbouring city and reiterated my sob story in a somewhat amusing manner, left them a list of 6 samples I wanted to try and why I wanted to try Jo Malone specifically as well as leaving my address. I got a reply within an hour and was told I was sent some samples and some tester strips of the ones they don't have samples of. YAY! Hooray!!

The next day I got TWELVE different samples in the mail in a gorgeous box wrapped in ribbons and 5 cards with doused paper strips in each. That means I get to try, one way or another, almost their entire range! I am so impressed.

Asking for samples within AU is like asking a brick to bleed - 'aint never gonna happen.

Thanks for listening (even though it's forced on you!lol).

    Cheers, Kal

    Hi Red,

Thank you for the kind and thoughtful words. It's a funny old world isn't it - and basenotes is such a fascinating place to connect with one more part of it.

Thanks again and take it easy!

You're a very complex thinker, Redneck Perfumisto.

I sort of view infinity as more of an "implied" idea rather than anything "real" being infinite, but your perspective on things is very interesting and introspective.

Hey Red! I know you're a fan of Comme des Garcons 2 man, which is a sort of incense frag, and I just got done with my second wearing of Costume National's 21. Not sure if you've tried it or not, but WOW! It opens a little sweet, a little spicy, a little fruity, and a little creamy. It dries down to a sort of soft incense (which you can detect from the beginning) and woods. It's so well done! There's no way this ISN'T going on my to buy list. Just thought I'd give you a heads up on its amazingness!

Gifts Under The Mass Market Christmas Tree

by Redneck Perfumisto on 27th December 2016 at 09:20 PM

(Image stolen from here.)

As I sit here, next to our Christmas tree, reveling in the smell of my Christmas gift - Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Profumo - I have some very pleasant thoughts.

We were discussing, on this thread, the pricing of niche fragrances - Andy Tauer versus Dusita. Dorje123 opined that it was tough to enter the market now as a new, affordable Henry Ford, and I agree. But it got me thinking. A bit off

No Place Like Home

by Redneck Perfumisto on 30th October 2013 at 02:35 AM

I used to say this about Kansas...

It's a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there.

I'm kinda feeling the same way about the new/old site. It seems a little bare-bones at first, but I think I'm going to get used to it.

Yes, it's a bit primitive. Yes, it's a bit old fashioned. Yes, it's a bit like a trip back to an earlier time.

But it's classic. REALLY classic.

And it has

Vintage His and Hers Gift Set

I was on a thread here today, when something hit me.

We were talking about how some very popular men's designer fragrances, much loved at the moment by most of the world, are completely unloved here. These fragrances are nice enough, but they just don't grab anybody's

IFRA's Bad Luck

by Redneck Perfumisto on 26th June 2011 at 07:58 PM
.
Well, if IFRA would have been lucky, you would now be reading one of my most well-argued pieces ever written, in defense of their latest video.

Unfortunately, the crashing server ate it.

100% lost in cyberspace. I kid you not.

Is the universe trying to tell me something? Who knows.....

However, I intend to rally to the cause one more time. Come back later - for a link to a re-created version!

Flagrance Fashion Faux Pas!

The Humor of Bad Taste and The Bad Taste of Humor - An Age-Old Dilemma

Inspired by a forthright discussion with some of the ladies here at Basenotes, two of my favorite characters explore a thorny question of social cohesion versus individual freedom of expression. Two brothers on very different paths in life, but still united by their love of fragrance, and perhaps
