Hahaa ain't it the truth! I could do a better job than damn near all of the SA's I've dealt with. "What are you trying to find? Musky, amber? Well.. I REALLY like Black by Kenneth Cole.. it smells so good" I'm happy I'm not the only one about L'Homme!! It seems everyone mentions so many YSL scents and how good they are.. but not that one That scent sounds right up my alley! I've been trying to find a smokey scent just to get a feel of how it would be.. and yes! Anise is definitely something I try and stay away from.. I just don't like it at all haha

Yeah I was on the search for frags that were warm and sensual and maybe a bit spicy for Fall/Winter.. and I think The One would do quite nice.. or Guess by Marciano. I'm quite fond of Amber and Musky frags. I wanna try Express Reserve cause it sounds right up that alley.

Haha yeah I guess i'll have to just keep it around maybe I'll end up liking it again! I should have been more specific about 212, I meant 212 on Ice haha I need to try 212 again.. the SA sprayed the sample card until it was wet and limp and all I got was a hefty dose of pepper. I of course know a LOT more about drydowns and such now so I wanna try it again. I hear so much about how many complements it gets.. but of course it comes down to whether I like it or not

Saw your thoughts on Havana, I was wondering how much of the stuff I'd sent you had an opportunity to work through. I'd love to hear your opinions on them.

"Olfactory algebra." It really is like olfactory algebra.

I'd like to pick your brain, I love the reply you gave about the scents that take you someplace. That was the best answer to my question and now I'm dying of curiousity to try those out! I'll have to go looking for samples.

Gifts Under The Mass Market Christmas Tree

by Redneck Perfumisto on 27th December 2016 at 09:20 PM

(Image stolen from here.)

As I sit here, next to our Christmas tree, reveling in the smell of my Christmas gift - Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Profumo - I have some very pleasant thoughts.

We were discussing, on this thread, the pricing of niche fragrances - Andy Tauer versus Dusita. Dorje123 opined that it was tough to enter the market now as a new, affordable Henry Ford, and I agree. But it got me thinking. A bit off

No Place Like Home

by Redneck Perfumisto on 30th October 2013 at 02:35 AM

I used to say this about Kansas...

It's a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there.

I'm kinda feeling the same way about the new/old site. It seems a little bare-bones at first, but I think I'm going to get used to it.

Yes, it's a bit primitive. Yes, it's a bit old fashioned. Yes, it's a bit like a trip back to an earlier time.

But it's classic. REALLY classic.

And it has

Vintage His and Hers Gift Set

I was on a thread here today, when something hit me.

We were talking about how some very popular men's designer fragrances, much loved at the moment by most of the world, are completely unloved here. These fragrances are nice enough, but they just don't grab anybody's

IFRA's Bad Luck

by Redneck Perfumisto on 26th June 2011 at 07:58 PM
Well, if IFRA would have been lucky, you would now be reading one of my most well-argued pieces ever written, in defense of their latest video.

Unfortunately, the crashing server ate it.

100% lost in cyberspace. I kid you not.

Is the universe trying to tell me something? Who knows.....

However, I intend to rally to the cause one more time. Come back later - for a link to a re-created version!

The Humor of Bad Taste and The Bad Taste of Humor - An Age-Old Dilemma

Inspired by a forthright discussion with some of the ladies here at Basenotes, two of my favorite characters explore a thorny question of social cohesion versus individual freedom of expression. Two brothers on very different paths in life, but still united by their love of fragrance, and perhaps
