That has always sounded good to me but I haven't had a chance to try it. Good for you trying something vintage. It sounds chic! Let us know how it goes!
Hi, Satyrek --
Happy to offer a whole bunch of suggestions! Depending on whether you can tell if she'll love something just by sniffing it (try Sephora and/or your local department story, if so), you might want to buy minis of several of these (or others) along with a card promising a full bottle of her favorite... Then she can try them and pick!
* L de Lolita Lempika
* 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden
* DKNY Be Delicious Night
* Le Baiser du Dragon by Cartier
* 24 Faubourg by Hermes
* Kenneth Cole Perfume for Women
* JLo Glow
Happy hunting, and do let me know what you go with, and how your GF likes it!
Hi, Satyrek - I assume you are talking about dept store fragrances? They are quite a lot more limited than niche. The time before Christmas is critical. You don't have much room to sample. Let me know if you can try some Serge Lutens I would recommend a few.
In dept stores, try Armani Code, Guerlain Samsara EDP, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Chanel #19, Bois des Iles (only in boutiques) that's a few to start. I guess I need to know more about your location & budget.
I have a poor time telling what women's fragrances smell alike. Both fragrances you mentioned are categorized as floral / chypres. but they both have fruit notes in them ( and I think they show that your GF has good taste). I think you would have better luck asking the women of basenotes. I would recommend Brielle87, ComDiva, and Kumquat. They know women's fragrances much better than I do.
Basenotes is an online guide to perfume and fragrance, featuring news, a database of fragrances, perfume glossary, fragrance forums, user reviews and more.
