    Hi Tsuzumi,

Regarding your screen shot post, it looks as though you've done everything right except the last step. Log onto Flickr, select your photo, select all sizes (atop the photo), then scroll down below the image and you'll see two options. Highlight the second one (URL) and paste that into the "insert image" pop-up. Try it! This one always works for me.

I posted on the thread, but don't know if you're going back any time soon.

    Sincerely,
    Lynda

Tsuzumi, I would love to hear more about your experience with scents in Japan. E.g., do you ever smell a perfume on the street? Are the clubs or age groups or events where it's more common. Please consider starting a blog.

Layering with Bal a Versailles

by tsuzumi on 5th September 2010 at 05:36 AM
I just blind-bought a mini of BaV at a junk/antiques/curios shop. I loved the fragrance, and was amazed by its legendary longevity. Then, I started experimenting with layering. I started with Jazz, because I think it is a related fragrance. The result was impressive, the two frags fitting together to make something bigger than both. I was not surprised to find it was lingering on my arm for most of the next day. Then, I decided to try another YSL, Opium pour Homme. This didn't work nearly

A Guerlain quintet m/f

by tsuzumi on 28th March 2010 at 09:12 AM
Living in Japan is a bit difficult for fragrance lovers because a) you can never get liquid samples and b) prices are very high, even at discounters. I was looking at a domestic Japanese on-line retailier, and I saw Habit Rouge EDC for less than half the (full retail) price I paid for HR EDT. So I went for that, and in trying to get to the free shipping point, I found a box of four Guerlain samples, all EDT: Mitsouko, Shalimar, Instant Magic and Insolence. I would have preferred more archetypal

Guerlain at full retail, hoping for an experience

by tsuzumi on 22nd January 2010 at 09:51 AM
I decided to buy Habit Rouge. I decided to go to the Guerlain boutique at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. It seems to function as the main Guerlain shop here. Jicky and some others are only available at this shop. So I thought if I went there, I could try Jicky and also had some hopes for some kind of freebie. Looking around in the hotel, I couldn't see anything Guerlain, so I went to the newer tower next door. There, a receptionist told me Guerlain was on the fourth floor. This turned out to

Scent in Japan--my experiences

by tsuzumi on 3rd January 2010 at 02:01 AM
The Japanese trace their scent heritage back to ancient Egypt. The Japanese word for 'mummy' is 'mira' which is thought to be related to the word 'myrrh,' an important spice for Egyptian embalmers. It is said that once upon a time, a big piece of strangely-shaped driftwood washed up on the beach. When villagers burned the wood, they discovered a wondrous fragrance. This is thought to be agarwood, or oud as it is known in the Middle East. Certain tree species in southeast Asia react to infections
