Hi friend! Thanks for the bday wishes. You can still send me a silly picture. How are you? What's new? I got to hang out with my nephew yesterday. He's discovered his tongue and he fell asleep in my arms. <3 <3 He's so cool.

I got a new fume yesterday but I can't talk about it on here because I'm hosting a blind sniff and it will be one of the featured scents (if you're curious check out the female fragrance board, it's really kind of a neat and fun thing.) Anyway, I'm totally enjoying it. lol. I caught sight of a couple of your sotd entries, and one of them was LHB. You so need to do that blog on it! I wanted to read more.

Anyhoo, I hope your weekend was good! Mine's abbreviated, as I have to work today. It's the first Sunday I've worked in months so I shouldn't complain, but I'm missing a race I'd signed up for because I had no reason to believe I'd have to work today. Oh well.
    Later! <3

    Hi Kal,

I've been missing you too! I only occasionally look into the chatroom these days and haven't seen you 'lurking' - so we will have to keep in touch via other means. I will send you a PM with my email address.

Happy to have my page deflowered by your gorgeous avatar - I think I recognise it as detail from a pre-Raphaelite painting? Love that stuff! And anything art nouveau too.

I've bought a few things on eBay in the last few days (no surprises there) but I don't like to mention them until they actually arrive... since a few have gone astray in the past. I'm still waiting on that Jicky EDT - I bought it at FragranceX so it'll get here either this month or next (they're that slow!). I'll let you know when it arrives.

Also, I got a nice big set of samples from an e-friend in the US: vintage goodies including a half ml of early Coty's Le Chypre!! I found it very similiar to vintage Mitsouko EDC but with a clove-like spicy edge.

XXX Christine (aka ms Veronica (my middle name))

Thanks for the update, Kal - very glad to hear that they were so generous with the samples! WOW! I love it when there is a happy ending. And I do hope that you enjoy those scents. J.M. has quite a range, so there simply MUST be something in there for you to love.

    Cheers and happy sniffing!

I thought you might have been taking care of your kids. Everyone else largely ignored me. lol. I see it's still open, but I've got to get ready for work. *tosses a cupcake*

Hey! I saw you on chat last night (this morning for you, I think) but I had cupcakes to make and didn't stop to say anything (b/c I figured we'd be there for a while ) Anywwwwway, too bad it's only open for us non-supporters for 24 hours. Hope you're having a great day!

Yeah me too...nice to meet you! I may only be on during "non VIP" hours on the weekend, but I may sneak into the VIP room in the evenings.

    Hi Kal,

re Jo Malone - well that's crap. I hadn't got there at all. If all the stock is still 'in situ' that suggests there has been a rush decision to close - probably forced on them by business levels. Crap. I had only managed to smell a few when I had half-a-day spare on a work trip to Melbourne back in December. Grrr indeed. Unfortunately, I don't have a suggestion about samples - I don't know how closely JM keep their trade. Thanks for letting me know - you've saved me a trip.

Hi Kal! I just saw my nephew again last night. He's 7 weeks old now and smiles. Those little toothless smiles just slay a person, you know? My husband brought out an old stuffed baby Tigger for him and he loved it. Apparently it was the first toy he'd actually interacted with, how cool is that? My little stuffed tiger. A boy after my own heart.

Re. My Sin, it is risky; that's why I haven't bought it. I made an offer for $60 that was accepted, but that's still a little too much to spend on something that might be bad. You wore My Sin in high school-- I love it! A true perfumista, you are.

I'm smitten with a couple Serges right now, Arabie and Bas de Soie. BdS on paper is so not me, but the green that's supposed to be there doesn't ever come through, and there's a hint of clean musk after about an hour that warms it up enough for my tastes. I think it's gorgeous.

Have you sniffed anything new and exciting? How's your weekend been? Have an awesome week, mkay?

Me and Carnal Flower - Part One:

by Kal on 5th January 2011 at 05:41 AM
I have a great idea! Instead of blurbing about a newly acquired fragrance in Word and then trying to transfer 3 months worth of observations into a blog, I'll do it all as blogs! Bit by bit! That way I won't have the odious task of censoring my blogs or trying to figure out where to splice them. My Jungle L'Elephant and L'Heure Bleue 'reviews' are two blogs long - each - so I am yet to post them. I hate editing - I need an editor!! D:

Anyway, onto Carnal Flower from Frederic Malle.

Hullo Thar ...

To whom it may concern:

This is me ...

I have tried posting my reviews on Basenotes only to have them disappear into the 'system' too many times so I've decided to change my tac and post blogs instead.
I was lurking for about a year before joining last February and only joined because I had a question to ask but I still haven't asked it - and it still

Hello There

L'Oreal

by Kal on 22nd March 2010 at 12:28 AM
I've been out of the loop in all areas of life since my kids were born in 2006.

After a blog posted by Atlanta1 I discovered that L'Oreal had taken over YSL.
Having only recently learned that L'Oreal still tested on animals I was horrified to think that they would be doing the same with YSL perfumes and was glad that I no longer have any.

On further investigation I was even more horrified to find out that they also took over The Body Shop in 2006! Shocked! Appalled!
