You mentioned ‘SMELL VOYAGES’; Wow…you hit the nail right on the head! The neural links that scents touch in us that evoke feelings that cannot be sufficiently verbalized – that send you on those ‘smell voyages’, make you realize how complex our brains truly are. Perfumes are those tickets to travel to those complex SMELL-SCAPES and are, in a sense, VOYAGES IN BOTTLES!

Ahhh. Now THAT was a joyous read. And I'm not saying a word about why, because I don't want to lessen the abstraction of that joy by any mere specifics.

What a gorgeous story! Thank you for reminding me that fragrances are so much more than lovely smells. You know, I've been into this hobby for a couple years now and a much more serious collector in this last year. Linking scent to memory, I can not only tell you where I was was when I obtained each new fragrance, I can, through sense memory, relive the point in my life I was when I acquired it. Moreover, as I have so many scents, when I smell certain frags I don't wear very often I am transported back to the time and place I wore it. For example, in October, I went on a cruise and only wore Acqua di Parma. Now, my vacation lives in that bottle and I am reminded of it every time I wear it. Anyway, thanks again for such a thoughtful and insightful story.
