    Hi everyone,

Thanks very much indeed for all the comments.

I suspect very few people would say that Parfums Issey Miyake was ever a niche brand, but I think it's very telling that NHK believes it once was.

As far as the smell of the perfume itself is concerned, it isn't always appropriate to provide a review-style assessment of a scent in a Basenotes article, nor is it always appropriate to include links to reviews on other sites. If you have a look on the Perfume Reviews section of my own blog, you'll see what I thought of the fragrance.

I have never thought of Issey as niche.

So we gets lots about the bottle design, and lots about hair styles, but the only bit about the fragrance we get is that Issey being Japanese doesn't like fragrance. From this interview I have no idea what the fragrance is like, but I bet it is a hell of a lot like the original "Pour Homme". Not a good interview, and not a good launch.

By the way I'm glad Feu d"issey was discontinued; I thought it vile.

It was a nice glimpse behind the scenes and a frank and honest interviewee. I just hope they find a way of making Le Feu available as a limited edition, I think they would be surprised how well it would do.

I like the talking about the hair-dos and packaging, yet not a single description of your feelings towards the scent itself... hmm! ;)

Great interview - reveals a lot about how the business operates. Not that keen on Issey scents myself but value the insights here and NHK's candour. Thanks Persolaise.
