Popup Paris : A diamond is hidden in every fifty candles | Esxence News

01st April, 2012

Popup Paris are a candle maker with a difference - inside one in every fifty candles is a diamond. 0.15ct in their smaller candles 0.25 ct in the larger ones. As the candle is melted to the bottom, the diamond will be revealed. The diamonds are inserted by hand by Victor Van de Rosieren, the founder of the company. During this process a bailiff and the Director of manufacturing are present.

The fragrances are made in Grasse and come in five fragrances:

  • BooBlop (Bamboo)

  • Woodzip (Smoking Fire)

  • WizzNadine (Grenadine)

  • FigShebam (Fig)

  • RicePow (Rice Powder)

The candles cost from €20 and are available at Colette and Jovoy in Paris, and other locations in Europe, Japan and the USA.

OH My - this is better than the lottery in a way . It's also like the Golden Ticket from the Willy Wonka & The Chocolate factory . I love this idea. :)

I can imagine myself furiously burning through candles to get right to the bottom !

Yeah me too but it can be very frustrating too as even if you buy fifty candles it is hit and miss; statistically you could get several with diamonds or none, I can see myself buying 50 candles and trying to break them:)))

I gave them a quick sniff at Esxence and found them quite boring and conventional..
