Prada present Luna Rossa fragrance

13th July, 2012

This September Prada are launching Luna Rossa – a new fragrance for men which is named after the company's boat which competes in the America's Cup. The fragrance is based on a lavender accord and has been created by Givaudan's Daniela Andrier who has been responsible for other Prada fragrances such as Prada Candy and Infusion d'Iris.

Joining lavender are notes of orange, clary sage, spearmint, ambrosian and ambrette. The juice is housed in a bottle designed by Yves Behar and is inspired by the "technological excellence and sleek, dynamic beauty of extreme sailing boats."

The fragrance will be available as 50ml and 100ml Eau de toilette.

I like the sounds of this one as well ! Nice looking bottle.

A frag named after a boat would lead me to expect the dreaded marine/aquatic horror notes the competitor D&G duo came up with. But luckily, that's not Andrier's smooth and a little uninspiring style. So light ambery it will be. The bottle looks uncharacteristically ugly for the brand - strange because, at least to me, the bottles are usually the best thing of the lineup, and not unworthy of the brand name.

I really do enjoy Prada's men's fragrances. Looking forward to trying this one although I am not a very big fan of lavender.
