Video Interview with Ray Burns of X-Ray Profumo and information about new lines [News from Pitti]

14th September, 2012

Pitti Imagine Fragrance 2012 exhibitor Ray Burns of X-Ray Profumo was on hand to explain the brand’s philosophy. His fragrances have so far been available only at Barneys in New York, but will soon be available through the luxury retail chain Space NK in the UK and Cow Parfymeri in Stockholm.

Ray, who lives in Florence (his mother is Italian though he was brought up in the US) says that he is a great traveller and that many of the places he has been to have inspired the scents he has created. Delirium, for example was based on London:

"It's got Tuberose, Geranium, Madonna Lily in it. I was thinking about the 1960s and Flower Power, that was the inspiration, but I wanted it to be a perfume for a girl now, someone who could sit down and go to tea today, but still be very modern."

Ray has had a distinguished career in the beauty business working for a number of years directy with Francois Nars of NARS cosmetics and stores such as Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue.

Three fragrances were launched earlier in the Spring: Delirium, Morphine and Resurrextion. These are being joined by two new fragrances: Lacquered Rose and Plastique.

Lacquered Rose is inspired by Dubai and includes notes of oud, Turkish rose, patchouli and black amber. Plastique is inspired by Los Angeles and includes notes of bergamot, lavender, eucalyptus and rosemary - which combine to give a vinyl accord.

The fragrances are 50ml and cost $185 / €140 / £120.
