The Perfumer and the Poet – Angela Flanders commissions poem and launches body cream for Precious One

by Judith Brockless, 07th February, 2013

Award-winning perfumer Angela Flanders has commissioned a love poem dedicated to her Precious One fragrance, which won ‘Best New Independent Perfume’ at the 2012 FiFi Awards. Flanders is also releasing a matching scented body cream for the fragrance.

The perfumer first met the poet through Odette Toilette’s ‘Penning Perfumes’ collaboration, where Angela Flanders’ Ambre Noire was the inspiration for Tiffany Anne Tondut’s poem. Flanders then requested another piece, but this time to be inspired by Precious One.

Tondut has commented that it was: ‘Such an interesting perfume to work with, it inspired me to write a poem as layered and unique as the scent itself. Each note triggered a memory, a language or a taste.’ Precious One has proved to be equally popular amongst both men and women - which is reflected in Tondut’s response.

She continues: ‘…there was the notion of marrying sweetness (jasmine, tuberose) with acidity (chypre, citrus) as manifested in male and female form. It's one of my more unusual and modern pieces.’ A new perfumed body cream in Precious One has been launched for Valentine’s Day and all Precious One purchases made in February will include a copy of the poem.

Precious One is available in 30 ml and 50 ml sizes (£55 and £75 respectively), 200ml body cream (£49) and a perfumed candle (£40).

Sounds as if Angela Flanders has come a long way since I got a sample pack of her scents a few years ago. The best that I could have described them was simple floral toilet waters.
