On 4th May the long-awaited Guerlain ‘Les Parisiens’ collection arrived in Britain, with an exclusive launch at Harrods. Until now, the men's collection was only available from Maison Guerlain, at 68 Champs-Élysées in Paris. Now repackaged in elegant, monolithic bottles, the collection comprises five Guerlain favourites, originally created by Jean-Paul Guerlain: Derby, Chamade Pour Homme, L' Âme d'un Héros, Arsène Lupin (aka Dandy) and Arsène Lupin Voyou.
The Guerlain website describes the collection as ‘composed of exclusive re-editions of fragrances that belong to Guerlain's heritage and that have been requested by their lovers, who are desperate of not being able to wear them anymore.’ Coriolan, for example, is now reborn as L'Âme d'un Héros (as we discovered here).
Derby eau de toilette contains top notes of bergamot and orange tree, heart notes of ‘an exhilarating fantasia’ composed of spices, Indian wood and carnation, and a base of patchouli, birch, leather, and autumnal notes.
Chamade Pour Homme eau de toilette has top notes of a ‘heady mix’ of Calabrian bergamot and black pepper, then comes a heart of violet leaves, hyacinth and nutmeg. The base combines vetiver and leather, on an accord of precious wood.
L'Âme d'un Héros eau de toilette opens with a ‘bright burst’ of citrus, bergamot and lemon, with neroli and sage. The heart contains ylang ylang, absinthe, basil and cypress, which ‘go wild beneath the sultry spicy notes of juniper berry’. Finally, a combination of everlasting flower, vetiver and patchouli, with woody, balsamic and amber notes, makes up the base.
Arsène Lupin eau de parfum has notes of bergamot, bitter orange, pink pepper, rockrose, violet, olibanum and cardamom, on a base of sandalwood and patchouli.
Arsène Lupin Voyou eau de parfum contains bitter orange, aromatic herbs, artemisia, rose, coriander and pepper, supported by sandalwood, patchouli, benzoin and white musk.
Fragrances from ‘Les Parisiens’ collection are available in 100ml bottles (for the Arsène Dandy fragrances) and 125ml bottles (for the rest), for £150, at Harrods.
