Sakura - A new fragrance for Spring, from Angela Flanders

by Judith Brockless, 12th May, 2013

Angela Flanders has created a special limited edition fragrance to celebrate the arrival of Spring, after our ‘long, cold winter’. Sakura, or cherry blossom, is of great symbolic importance in Japanese culture. Every Spring, the festival of Hanami is specifically devoted to enjoying the brief spell when the cherry trees are in bloom. People pick a spot under a tree to spend the day, and picnic beneath it with family and friends.

The delicate pink and white petals of the cherry blossom reflect ‘the fragile, ephemeral nature of existence’. Inspired by the ‘fragile beauty of their flowers, lacelike against a tranquil blue sky’ - and the fondness for delicate floral fragrances demonstrated by her Japanese customers - Angela has created Sakura, ‘a perfume to mark the festival and welcome in the Spring’.

The fragrance is described as ‘delicate floral top notes with hints of violets and heliotrope mingling with the intriguing almond notes in the heart, resting on a velvet base of soft green mosses’.

Sakura is available during Spring 2013, as 100ml Eau de Toilette (£75), 50ml Eau de Parfum (£65) and 30ml Eau de Parfum (£45).

There is also an accompanying 250ml Shower Gel (£30) and 200ml Perfumed Body Cream (£55 ).
