Jean Patou Collection Héritage : Pour Homme, Chaldée and Eau de Patou to arrive at Harrods at end of March

06th March, 2014

Relaunched last year, three of Jean Patou's classic fragrances from the historical archive, Jean Patou Pour Homme, Chaldée and Eau de Patou, are soon to be available in Harrods. The three scents have been chosen by in-house perfumer, Thomas Fontaine to form part of the Jean Patou Collection Héritage, which showcases fragrances from the brands rich history.

First introduced in 1927 Chaldée began as the scent for a sun tan oil, but the scent was so popular they transformed it into a perfume. An oriental, floral, spicy powdery fragrance made up of Amber and flowers, spice and Opopanax.

First launched in 1980, the scent is a rich warm complex scent consisting of natural essential oils with a noble long lasting character which captures the essence of masculinity. Top notes of Bergamot, Lemon, Glabanum and Pepper give way to aromatic Jasmine, Rose, Lavender, Tarragon and Violet Leaves whilst the dramatic base conjures strength and authority with Patchouli, Leather, Olibanum and Ambergris.

This fragrance in its original form was the cause of many threads on the Basenotes forums, and some sky-high eBay prices for vintage bottles.

Created originally in 1976 it is described as "a genuine expression of freedom and style that lasts throughout the day. A light tonic with fruity notes that sparkle with accords of Bergamot, Sicilian Citrus, Guinea Orange and Sweet Lime mixed with Pepper Lavender and Orange Flower."

The scents are available at Harrods from 23rd March 2014.

I've been wanting to smell the new Eau de Patou since its release, so that's good.
