This month sees the launch of a new line of fragrances inspired by Diana Vreeland. Vreeland was editor of US Vogue during the sixties, and died in 1989. The fragrance line has been overseen by her grandson Alexander Vreeland, and the name of each fragrance is taken from one of Diana Vreeland's quotes.
Extravagance Russe was created by perfumer Clement Gavarry. The fragrance features notes of Amber, Bourbon vanilla, Resins, Balsams and Musk. The scent was created as an homage to Mrs. Vreeland's love of Orientalism.
Yves Cassar is the perfumer behind Absolutely Vital. The fragrance was inspired by Vreeland's love for India and passion for sandalwood and features notes of Indian sandalwood, Turkish rose, Egyptian jasmine absolute, Myrrh, Opoponax and Vanilla.
Perfectly Marvelous was made by perfumer Celine Barel, who was inspired Vreeland's quote: "If it isn't a passion, it isn't burning, it isn't on fire, you haven't lived!"
Perfectly Marvelous contains notes of Indian jasmine absolute, Sandalwood, Pimento, Jasmine sambac, Cashmeran, Resins, Spices.
Patchouli, Rose and Blackcurrant feature in Outrageously Vibrant, created by Carlos Benaim. The scent is described as "A fearless, nonconformist fragrance combining a classical chypre structure with an unexpected twist of "creme de cassis.".
The line will be available from August 21st at Selfridges in London, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in the USA. In September, the line launched in Paris at Colette.
Cannot wait to try some of these. Particularly interested in Absolutely Vital.
