16th September, 2018

Joan Woods of Ireland-based Waters + Wild Perfumery was at Pitti showing her certified organic brand to attendees.

Waters + Wild was founded by perfumer, Joan Woods, in 2016 and creates fragrances using natural, and where possible, organic ingredients.

Based in West Cork, Ireland, Woods is "inspired by the beauty that surrounds us". Currently the company have four fragrances:

  • Tuberose + Frankincense: "an exotic and carnal blend of intoxicating tuberose absolute and deep aromatic frankincense. Intense and sensual"
  • Rose + Oud: "rich and deep. Rose petals harvested at dawn when their perfume is at its strongest, combined with rare exotic and woody oud, giving it a mysterious sensual depth."
  • Cedarwood + Cognac: "woody, juniperus virginiana, the aromatic cedar, a warm, rich scent spiced with tart cognac and subtle hints of full-bodied, earthy vetiver"
  • Sweet Basil + Bergamot: "fresh, peppery basil, sweet with delicious anise undertones, combines beautifully with the spicy citrus notes of shimmering Calabrian bergamot, sultry cedarwood and wild rose."

The company also showed new bags for the fragrance packaging made from Donegal Tweed.

I keep meaning to buy a sample pack! Must remedy that soon. Ireland produces some good stuff, actually. One of my favorite perfumes is Castana by Cloon Keen Atelier, which Luca Turin awarded a whopping 5 stars in the Guide 2018. I also love their laid-back spicy rose-sandalwood, Sybarite.
