Linda Pilkington of Ormonde Jayne with meringues!

Last Wednesday, Basenotes was delighted to visit the Ormonde Jayne perfumery in Royal Arcade for an update on their latest releases (and some rather nice meringues).

Privé, a recent addition to the Ormonde Jayne range, is described as ‘a complex formulation of the many favoured and private perfume oils of Ormonde Jayne - our DNA personified’. Containing perfumer Linda Pilkington’s favourite oils, which she felt evoked the most positive of emotions, its seventy ingredients include delicate opening notes of basmati rice and pink pepper, and a heart of gardenia, magnolia and jasmine absolutes.

The Elixir Collection

The Elixir Collection, which features Cambodian oud, came about due to the house’s commitment to its bespoke Made-To-Measure service. Over time it became clear that regular clients were frequently asking for more powerful versions of their favourite fragrances. Currently available from Harrods and Ormonde Jayne, in August these five perfumes will be available worldwide.

Ormonde Jayne Reed Diffusers

The Ormonde Jayne Parfum d’Ambience reed diffusers include a bespoke 500ml bottle, ‘designed with eight deliberate sides for good luck’. New scents now available are White Gold (one of the ‘Gold Trilogy’ of perfumes) and the best-selling ‘Four Corners’ fragrance, Montabaco.

Each Parfum d’Ambience set contains a bottle, perfumed oil, plus twelve diffuser reeds, and can be found at Harrods for £275; a refill will set you back £95.

The newest Ormonde Jayne fragrance is the tenacious Ta’if Intensivo, ‘… made to cut through extreme heat, with its elegance and composition intact’. It features notes of saffron, date, rose and freesia, combined with orange flower and jasmine absolutes.

Ta’if Intensivo is poured at 40% and currently available at Fortnum & Mason, priced at £185 for 50ml.

        Nice looking meringues --- mmmmm

Lovely staff, nice shop -- but have never been bowled over by the fragrances, oh well

Not a fan of merengues. But as a fan of the house, I look forward to try the Elixirs.
