Van Cleef stays out later than Bourjois. New fragrance: Midnight in Paris

by Walker Minton, 29th June, 2010

Midnight in Paris by Van Cleef & Arpels launches this Autumn. The fragrance is inspired by a recent Van Cleef watch with the same name (see picture below). Created by Domitille Bertier with Olivier Polge, it is “an interpretation of a night-time date in Paris...your head in the stars”.

Midnight in Paris is a floral-oriental leather for men and contains notes of Lemon, bergamot, rosemary, leather, matcha green tea, black lily of the valley, styrax, tonka, benzoin, incense.

The fragrance is available as an Eau de Toilette 125ml, 75ml and 45ml. An Eau de Parfum is also available from Van Cleef & Arpels boutiques and other select stores, such as Harrods. Available from August in Van Cleef boutiques and select stores with wider international roll out planned for September, October and beyond.

NB The title is a reference to the similarly named Bourjois fragrance, Evening in Paris.

I loved the bottle. It`s nice to see something that looks expensive being launched to mens. Hope the smell is as gorgeous as the bottle

I love that watch and the bottle. :)

      The bottle looks magical!

As to the name, the notion of Paris as the place of all things romantic has lost much of its appeal as zillions of products bear the name. Why not 'Midnight in Berlin,' for that matter? IMO it would work far better with the bottle design that clearly (and beautifully) combines tradition with what's only to follow. Just my two cents.

I cannot wait to smell the essence nonetheless. :-)

The bottle and the name of the fragrance which reminds me of Soir de Paris looks too femme. I guess this would be a scent for a select few not the masses.

Sounds so fascinating! And I too love the bottle. I hope to try this!
