by Grant Osborne, 04th April, 2011

Christine Nagel has created five limited edition tea fragrances for Jo Malone London. The fragrances are: Assam & Grapefruit, Early Grey & Cucumber, Fresh Mint Leaf, Sweet Lemon and Sweet Milk.

  • Assam & Grapefruit Cologne - grapefruit, assam, patchouli, cardamom, almond.

  • Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne - bergamot, cucumber, beeswax, vanilla, musk

  • Fresh Mint Leaf Cologne - mint, basil, maté, cedarwood, musk

  • Sweet Lemon Cologne - lemon, pineapple, peach, green cypress

  • Sweet Milk - milk accord, star anise, almond, vanilla

Christine Nagel said:

“The challenge was to take the idea of tea and translate it into wearable fragrances. The Jo Malone Creative Team came to me with 50 different teas, from the most renowned to the rarest. We had a tea tasting session where I became inspired by the aromas of tea leaves when they were steeped in hot water. Our “Coups de coeur”, the favourites, stood out. It was fascinating to consider how to take something like Assam, which is quite deep and dark and translate it into a scent that’s light and palatable. This is the key to the collection, the idea of taking rich notes and injecting them with a quality of light.”

Like most Jo Malone scents these can be combined. Nagel adds:

“Our three key teas are based on times of the day - Assam & Grapefruit references the revitalising and refreshing cup of tea you’ll have at breakfast, Earl Grey & Cucumber is a playful take on afternoon tea and Fresh Mint Leaf is an after dinner digestive. You can then add your own personal accent with Sweet Lemon or Sweet Milk”

The five scents are available now from Jo Malone boutiques and the company website

      They all sound very nice...

I would like to think that they are all light but also long lasting and substantial...
