Yeah, L'Oreal rules in the US...
Re: Top five overall Father's Day fragrances in 2006
This list is no surprise to me.
To put it into perspective: In the US, the sales of new cars can be a good analogy to our normal fragrance tastes (i.e. what's sold to the average Joe at Macy's). Just like Giorgio Armani's Acqua di Gio is #1 in men's fragrance sales, the plain-vanilla Toyota Camry is number one (if you exclude all the pickups GM, Ford, and Chrysler sell). And both are bought due to a certain reputation: Americans choose Acqua di Gio over other (arguably) superior men's fragrances because of the Armani brand's luxury image, while those same Americans buy Camrys over other midsize family sedans that are just as good like the Ford Fusion and Hyundai Sonata (among others) due to the Toyota brand's image of quality and reliability.
As Andre Agassi said in a camera commercial in the early 90s... "image is everything!"

Interesting. I am curious to know how this list contrasts and compares to the lists of Basenoters who purchased fragrances as Father's Day gifts in 2007. Which fragrances did we consider?
Re: Top five overall Father's Day fragrances in 2006
I am acutally quite pleased to read it, in a very selfish way. You see, the more people go with Armani and Calvin Klein, the less common my scents are.
Oh, even though L'Oreal as a group is huge, not many guys out there follow Lancome. Funny that. Hope they can keep it that way.
I am sooooo selfish.

I think that this year Euphoria Men and Polo Double Black will make it to Top 5 in the US.
I really have doubts about Armani Attitude...
