SL Encens et Lavande for me on this peaceful, foggy Sunday.
Enjoy your day!
SL Encens et Lavande for me on this peaceful, foggy Sunday.
Enjoy your day!
Incanto Dream... on me it smells like those cheap limited edition body sprays that were released 3 years ago. Definitely like Incanto Charm much more.
Narciso Rodriguez for Him EdT for today. Lovely on my skin, who turns everything sweet. More longlasting than NR for her. Perhaps I finally found a NR to wear...
Have a good Sunday!
Chaya, lieverd :) I am coming over with bunny to play with your Miss Pamina and.....oh dear.... Bitsy Biatch. Will bring honey and perfume bottles as well http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/icq/girl_angel.gif
Craving Lutens' fragrances. Does he add something addictive to his juice?
Enjoy your Sunday, Christmas shopping, decorating the house, writing Christmas Cards (I am delayed), advanced preparations for Christmas dinner......
".....tidings of comfort and joy"? Joy: yes. Comfort:...not quite convinced :undecided:
I am wearing Un Lys today. I smell like spring.
Have a happy Sunday, all! :bounce:
Myrrhe Ardente (Annick Goutal), from a sample
on this cold sunday
Up early for quick breakfast and off to sit TWMAG in:
Good morning people:) For this rainy day I'm wearing JPG Classique.
It is the coldest day of the year here so far, going to work in velvety patchouli and amber of Tann Roka Aki.
I am rejoicing in the cistus labdanum note of
Nobile 1942 Anonimo Veneziano
Riannon, read about your little honeyed bunny adventures yesterday  - LOL!
Lievje, fingers crossed for the kid and you....any news?
Everybody else....wish you a peaceful Sunday
Ooh, you all smell 'dee-wish-ous!' as the Word Chick says (she's only little so she's allowed to be in cute overload mode at all times, I figure she's got to use it all up before she becomes a teen).
I couldn't make up my mind today - Coup de Fouet? Vol de Nuit? But then I saw the perfect scent for the day: Malle's L'Eau d'Hiver. I feel snuggly now.
No news from Lievje? I hope her little boy is on the mend.
Hope you all have a lovely day.
for yet another warm and steamy day in paradise..
I hope Lievje is allright, and the little one.
Dragonlady- you're welcome anytime !
Eric- How do you like your sotd ? I've been curious about it.
Twolfie- could you elaborate on Aki ?
I've been thinking about it lately, wondering how FBW it is.
[If it's like the Teo Cabanel Alahine- then the answer is a resounding yes!]
SOTD is Burnt Amber- mod # 3, with yummy ambers, incense, plum blossom, elemi, cinnamon.
I could wear it for days [ and I think I have...]
Keep safe and warm, and well !
Barbier des Iles by Comptoir Sud Pacifique
Several hours ago I started my day in SL's Cedre for the first time. I read the reviews that likened it to chewing gum and I can agree with that. Chewing gum is repugnant to me in any form, so I wanted it gone.
In tandem with that is a boozy note reminiscent to my nose of the beer smell you get when you walk past a pub. Now, I love that walking-past-a-pub smell, but only if it is fleeting. I don't want to carry it around on my person.
So, in the end Cedre had to go. I scrubbed it away and needed to replace it with something lively. I'm now wearing Gres Cabotine. It is alright, doesn't set my heart racing, but it will suffice while I spend the rest of the day indoors writing reports. I will change scent this evening though I'll still be here in the same place with my dreaded reports.
I was wearing Calèche during the day. I went to sleepy old pharmacy and found a bottle of Femme Rochas - Eau de Cologne and a bottle of Amazone (original) by Hermès. Both of the boxes look crummy and vintage. I think I just hit the jack pot. :cheesy:
Genvieve for me, EDP with a little dab of parfum.
Jolie Madame, an old-school chypre, leather scent.
Little-known and completely under-appreciated these days.
"Old school, yes-
But I like it, too"...
Hermessence, Poivre Samarcande. Debating whether to brave the fog/snow and the shopping crowds today.
Slipping back into my no. 5.
the velvet body cream has renewed my experience of its atmospheric loveliness.
It's GIVENCHY PI edt for me today...
Oh goodie, weather man says freezing rain is moving in...
Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore
Oops! Posted my SOTD in the "lurkers" thread, so here it is again.
Am in EN AVION parfum from TPC order. Really gorgeous, and could become an expensive habit!
Hope you're all having a good weekend! :D
Personally, I was kinda hoping we'd get the muck so I could avoid leaving the house today for family obligations.:p
On this chilly, dreary, rainy day - Olivier Durbano Black Tourmaline.
Snow and lots of it here too friends,
please don't feel alone ;).
I'm spending my day snuggly at home
in Susanne Lang's Pashmina,
playing with our kitten :), chatting with hubby,
listening to Amy Winehouse and Jully Black.
Pashmina reminds me of something amber,
and a little bit of Chergui - LOVE IT!!!!
Another of Renee's lovely samples today - Czech & Speake No.88.
Getting a lot of geranium from this. I'm surprised this is pitched at guys - it is something women could (and do!) wear easily.
Worry wart here: Lievje, please be okay. We are so concerned for your baby boy.
Finally getting to dimples' gifts of Guerlain: Attrape Coeur left wrist, Guet Apens right wrist. Gonna do a bunch of cooking, hope the Guerlain experience doesn't get lost in chopping onions.
Coming down with a cold - staying in bed reading zany mystery by Janet Evanovich - ice and snow outside - wrapped in quilts and Jardins de Bagatelle
For me on this cold and slushy day: Musc Maori. Perfect.
While the Amber one is opulent, sweet and warm, the Mirre is almost meditative and simple. It's a clear mirre note, a bit spicey and a liiiiiiiitle bit of vanilla in the backround, but almost undetectable. Also I detect a little bit of Eau du Fiers smokeyness in the background, but I could be wrong, maybe it's just the mirre. It's very easy to wear and almost light. I guess they did this on purpose cause the 3 scents are also suitable to mix with eachother. In short, the Myrrhe Ardente seems to be the lightest. The Ambre the fullest and the Ensence somewhere in between, but astonishing too.
Thanks for your review, dear eric.
Dikke kus !
The nor'easter is upon us here.... warming up with Shalimar.
Hope you feel better, Dee Olive.
Gee, Chergui does sound like a great idea today. :D
Finally, got out from under my big deadline yesterday. Now I can relax and smell nice.
The Insolence body lotion after my bath last night is still lingering. Wow, sillage and projection on this one is amazing. Even my poochies, whom I hugged yesterday smells of it.
Let's see if the smell lingers after I go out and shovel all this snow! we had 25cm!!
Parfums de Nicolaï Maharadja
Yum! Is this the same scent that has been described as challenging, or was it another one? Because I think it's easy to love, and even my husband likes it on me.
It's a nice scent for staying in but not being bored. Here's to snow! I hope we get the predicted thunderstorm, since I've never heard thunder in the snow before.
Today I'm wearing Royal Bain de Caron, so cozy! :)
Amor Amor Cacharel.
My scent of the evening is Shalimar edp and I am loving it. Am I suddenly submitting to Guerlain after years of resistance? Perhaps my older skin is becoming more receptive.
I have been to work - wearing a sample of SL Chypre Rouge. Nice :)
I've changed to my SotE
Scent by CoSTUME NATIONAL
Welcome to "Old-er is Better"!! :bounce: (For many many things!!!) I have found that "up here" lots of over-the-top (Not that Guerlain in general or Shalimar in particular necessarily qualify) or "big" scents that send the younger ones off screaming are tamed by our maturity! (Or is it diminished estrogen???)
No matter. I know MY bod and MY nose nicely accommodate such beauties as Bal a Versailles, Rumba, Insolence (and her sister Champs Elysees) and some Creeds....Volupte and Amarige. A coupla gardenias. You'll LUV it!!
Case in point: Missoni for the evening. These berries and fruits with a hint of chocolate are DE TROP for some - yumsters for moi!!!
Dior Eau Sauvage (1966)

B: Vetiver, Amber, Oakmoss, Musk
Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentrée as SotE
Cuir Mauresque.......from a sample that is almost gone. I wish my family and friends would quit telling me how good it smells on me.....it is igniting that horrible burning desire!:(
Aki (meaning "autumn") is gentle and cuddly. Not particularly new in concept -- citrus, herbs, sweet dry, not foody vanilla, amber, patchouli, vetiver, soft woods -- and a muted, powdery drydown without the stale, musky aftertaste. There might be some "salty" notes in Aki, I believe. It does not produce much of a throw, stays close to the wearer's skin. Less sweet and lighter than Anne Pliska, does not have the gourmand aspect of IPdF Ambra de Nepal, however, sweeter than than Marc Jacobs Amber Splash, warmer and more intriguing than L'Artisan's Ambre Extreme, and lacks the chocolate and "darkness" of Hermes Ambre Narguile. Amber in Aki is well blended with other -- rooty, barky (is it a word?), herbal and almost fruity -- elements, and it is pure loveliness.
I am not familiar with the one you have mentioned, but I can tell you one thing: Aki is not a relative to Ambre Sultan despite amber, and is diametrically opposite of becker.eshaya Golden Amber despite its amber again.
Seems like I have been on the amber kick this Fall-Winter. MPG Ambre Precieux and, believe it or not, Mauboussin are in the lead.
Lolita Lempicka and Amor Amor as my SotE
Wore Peace on Earth by Liz Zorn for a day of fighting with the blizzard to get some shopping done. Really, really good stuff. Addictive insence.
Changed into Botrytis for cooking supper of French Onion soup, and baking almond balls.
After my bath I may slip into some 10 Corso Como.
Armani Code Pour Homme.
'In recent years, the bergamot top note has been made more dominating than in earlier formulations, giving the fragrance a less balsamic, more 'perfumey' initial impression'
