Montale Full Incense is also right up there.
Could it be a fake bottle of Body Kouros?
I purchased onebottle of BK and it didn't have incense scents. But then I smelled a different one and it had it in the top notes. The questionale bottle smells like a sweet mess, like a baby wipe cleaned up spilled sweet water. It is a very odd scent. Nothing else that I have smelled like it. But the bottle of BK that had incense smelled stronger and better, the incense carried the scent.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Sort of depends on your def on incense I suppose...
For me it means Frankincense...
So I lean towards Olibanum by Profumum, but I also like Avignon, Kyoto, and straight frankincense EO mixed with Frankincense resinoid and add in a little cetalox.

For me:
Norma Kamali-Incense
Etro-Messe de Minuit
Sadly, NK is almost impossible for me to find.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Avignon by Comme des Garçons is one of my favorites. As others have mentioned, there are many different styles of incense and many different incense fragrances. Avignon smells of old dusty Catholic churches and is based on the incense used in the Catholic church, which is primarily frankincnese and myrrh. Japanese incense, on the other hand, incorporates quite a few more ingredients (patchouli, amber, cedar, etc.) in addition to incense. It really depends on what you are looking for.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
There's already lots of good recommendations on this thread. I'm surprised Jaisalmer and Dzonghka have only been mentioned a couple of times. Those are two of my favorites (along with several that have been mentioned several times already). I would also throw Lorenzo Villoresi Incensi out there. The apple note in it is IMHO better handled than in the previously mentioned Wazamba, which is too sweet for me.

Sorry for the doubled post...

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Incense Oud by Kilian
Epic Man
Jubilation XXV
LDDM
Portrait of a Lady
Samples on the way:
Wazamba
Arso by Profumum Roma

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Gucci Pour Homme (2003)
Interlude Man by Amouage. And so many others from Amouage. So good, but so pricey.
2 Man, by Comme des Garcons! And the excellent CdG Incense trio of Avignon, Jaisalmer and Kyoto. I have a bottle of 2 Man on the way and I'm quite excited about it.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, price wise:
Zirh Ikon. If you enjoy any of the scents mentioned above, and you see this one in the bargain bin, I recommend you snatch it up. I think I bought my 4.2 oz bottle at Marshall's for $10. The bottle is quite handsome too, featuring a very nice magnetic cap. Ikon is best when the weather is cold.

I don't know about Jacomo de Jacamo since I've never smelled it, but there's no incense in Ungaro III. I get woods and rose, and I enjoy it very much.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
I dislike Iso-E Super incenses such as Kyoto and Jaisalmer. In general I find Duchafour's incenses tiresome. I like Jacques Flori's approach to incense; Shaal Nur, Messe de Minuit, Opus IV...

It appears that a lot of fellow basenoters don't share my views :-(
I'll put in Opus VI by Amouage then...It smells like Indiana Jones opening a box of Incense in one of the ancient pyramids!

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Bumping thus tread again and revisiting my post:
While my current wardrobe may lack any "proper" incense scent, I actually think back at my "used to own"-list and notice that I indeed owned a scent with good incense note. While no actual/predominant incense scent and, additionally, also a cheapie, Adidas Classic/Classic Blue had one of the best incense-based drydowns I ever tested.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Aedes de Venustas (L'Artisan for AdV)
Timbuktu (L'Artisan)
L'Air du Desert Marocain (Tauer) - (a must-have, if you don't mind tons of vanilla)
Greyland (Montale)
Standard (Comme des Garcons/Artek)
Aedes is the most versatile/wearable incense in my wardrobe, and probably my all-around favorite (in my top 10 of any genre) I hope like hell that they keep making it.
Timbuktu is the most sophisticated, but less versatile, as it has a very formal vibe about it.
Standard is the most antiseptically stark, and unlike many other incenses, it is not musty, woodsy, smoky or sweaty--this is almost a 'resin soliflore'. There's nothing better when you want to smell like an android, fresh from the factory. I love it. :)

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
I'll have to add Montale Full Incense to the list.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Wow .. no mention of BOIS d’ASCÈSE from Naomi Goodsir yet! Likely because many haven't sampled it yet but a fantastic woody/incense and by far my favorite "incense" fragrance at the moment.

The problem occurs because of the loose term "incense"
To some people, "Incense" means:
http://www.ecclecstacy.com/webpictur...dnanzanweb.jpg
If this is what you want, in it's raw state, try CDG's Kyoto. If you want this in it's raw and smoldering state simultaneously, try Amouage's Interlude man.
To others, it means a specific flavor of common incense cones or sticks:
http://thehermitsgrotto.com/store/im...cense_004B.jpg
If unburned Rose Incense is what you want, try Czech & Speake's No. 88
There are countless others which smell like a specific type of incense.
To others, "incense" means pure frankincense, in it's raw state:
http://www.fineincense.com/images/hougari009.jpg
If this is what you're seeking in it's raw state, try CDG's Avignon or Heeley Cardinal. Or Tauer's Incense Extreme if you want a little more natural and barely smoldering version of real frankincense.
I think in most western european and north american countries, "Incense" means a stick or cone of resin, scented with any number of materials. Whereas in other parts of the catholic or muslim world, it means "Frankincense".

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Are their any fragrances with a prominent (though not necessarily dominate) frankincense note that are wearable everyday/in warmer weather? Most of the ones I could find seem to be super heavy/thick. The closest one that seemed to be mentioned is Bleu de Chanel. Is that close or a different type of incense?

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Love the incense in my bottle of Amber Absolute... it's good stuff...

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
Another vote for Bois D'Encens.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
From what I own as a full bottle, the winner is LDDM by A.tauer
From Samples: Dzongkha, Tibuktu and Jubilation XXV.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
DULLAH, Thanks for clearing this up so nicely. For me, incense has always meant frankincense but reading through this thread, I began to realize that the associations to the term are all over the place. Toward the beginning of the thread, Halo addressed this issue as well. I don't have any incense frags, but now I know what to look for.

Re: Name your best incense cologne.
My preference for incense fragrances is definitely for the burning oriental (Indian/Tibetan/Japanese) sort. I got a sample of Dzongkha because of the specific Bhutanese incense associations. Not bad as a fragrance but it misses the tone of Bhutanese incense (I'm burning some now) by miles. Unlit, Bhutanese/tibetan incense has a real animal funk and lit it retains that, adding the campfire scent of juniper, coffee beans, sometimes saffron, sandalwood and other warm, spicy natural aromatics. Dzongkha is essentially a cold, wet experience. What smoke there is has a mentholated cool and it dries down to a nice, clean, Iris floral.
On my list to try:
Bois d'Ascese (for the smoke)
Kyoto (because Avignon is a picture-perfect olfactory replica of a Greek church)
Amouage Tribute
