on this crisp autumn day/night
Everlast Original 1910 by Everlast
12:16 a.m., finally home after a long week on the road. My favorite homey/comfort scent: Dior Homme Intense. Good morning to the basenoters on the other side of the world. Good night to the western hemisphere.
Hermès Eau des Merveilles (2004) Ralf Schwieger/Nathalie Fesithauer Citrus Chypre
•Top Notes: Vetiver, Oak, Cedar •Middle Notes: Ambergris •Base Notes: Lemon, Orange, Elemi, Pink Pepper
This is the one that's supposed to have an "inverted pyramid"; i. e., the top notes are in the base, the base notes are in the top, and the middle notes are... well, still in the middle. The EdT smells to me remarkably similar to the later Terre d'Hermès of Ellena, but it is missing that "silex" note that's said to remind one of the smell of sun-warmed stones. On the whole this is rather unisex to me, though it's labeled as being for women. The progression of this from layer to layer is rather hard to detect for me. It seems almost as if all the levels are present from beginning to end, making it a bit more linear than most Hermès scents. Still, it's something of a tour de force, and deserves some credit for that.

Ambre Russe (PdE) again after 6 months (this is one of the very few I can not wear during the summer half).... boy, I had forgotten how good this is! Once it settles on my skin after 15 minutes or so I mostly get a heavenly good and rich tobacco smell anticipating a good smoke, a wee dram waiting on the table and some exotic eastern spices and incense burning in a distance. :)
Scent twins with Larimar, I'm also wearing Ambre Russe today. And also like Larimar, it's been months since I've worn this last ... it is just gorgous in the cooler weather!
