Chanel...all the way...
I would choose Guerlain because of all the wonderful fragrances they have created in the past, many of which have been my favorites, but after seeing (smelling) what they have done with their heritage, I'm going for Chanel.
I think Chanel has done a better job reformulating their older fragrances and I feel the materials they use are superior.
I will never forgive Guerlain for what they have done to L'Heure Bleue extrait.
Although I understand the appeal of classic Guerlains, I really think that Chanel now beats Guerlain in terms of quality.
in a battle Chanel extraits vs Guerlain extraits - the quality of Chanel ingredients feels far superior
When I think of the greatest fragrances ever made I think Guerlain and Caron. I won't vote though. I honestly don't like Guerlain anymore as a brand and I've never been fond of Chanel even if I can recognize their quality on an objective level.
Voted for Chanel in order to keep it close, but no one is genuinely close to Guerlain, without whom who knows what have become of perfumery in general. I'd put Chanel right next to them, though. Caron had its day on a smaller scale. Same goes for Patou.
I had to vote for Chanel based on the fact that I have a view similar to many here that Chanel has done a better job with the reformulations I've had the chance to try.
I am definitely for Guerlain. I admire Chanel as a fashion brand, but its fragrances just don't work well with my chemistry.
I have chosen Chanel because I own several of its fragrances and enjoy them very much. My Guerlain inventory is low, but what I do have I tend to like very much. I would need to explore Guerlain further in order to make a valid comparison/recommendation.
Guerlain makes masterpieces with a more than reasonable price!
