Bought this based on the positive reviews and was underwhelmed. Don't be fooled by its color and notes list; the scent produced very little of the top notes, but a very strong musk and leather base are loud and strong. It is not bad, it just was not for me.

A refreshing, aromatic, masculine, mentholated piece of the past. A sporty blend of green/aromatic elements, woods, amber and fruits with a touch of sea breeze. Dynamic and virile. A not bad on a budget choice.

Receiving a bottle of Aqua Velva from your father is a right of passage into manhood. I never really thought the scent was exceptional, nor did my father; but his father gave him a bottle when he started shaving and, if I ever father a son, I'll pass on the tradition. It's a very nice scent; but it can't really compete with the plethora of scents available these days... nevertheless, it'll be around for a long time as long as fathers keep showing their sons how to shave.

This is an OUTSTANDING product and fragrance. You don't last from 1935 for nothing, and anyone who finds it less than pleasing has some serious olfactory/sensory prolems. Whoever came up with this scent was a genius. I just wish it lasted longer. There used to be a cologne version some years ago, but even that didn't last too long. Genius. Sheer genius.

Surprisingly good for the price. A bit of a blunt instrument, but on a hot summer's day its refreshingly cool menthol is pleasure to you, and probably recalls a sense of comfort for those around you, because this is a classic American scent. Also lasts longer than you think.

Besides Mennen Skin Bracer, Shulton old Spice and Floid, the Aqua Velva Ice Blue is a true classic. With a fresh, elegant, non obtrusive scent that reminds a bit of lavender, vanilla and menthol. The previously mentioned Alfred Sung Hei is more just one of the thousands copies of Davidoff Cool Water, and has really nothing in common with Aqua Velva

This stuff is cheap...yet still overpriced. Good value for the money? So is Old Rotgut Gin, yet it is still swill. If it's a good, bracing aftershave you want, get yourself some 4711 or Florida Water.

As it is a bottom shelf aftershave, I don't want to pick on Ice Blue. The smell is pleasant enough, with a generous dose of mentholated mint and mossy amber. There are some facets of this fragrance that don't seem to work very well - I really can't identify it, but something in the middle lends a darkness that doesn't work. Perhaps a synthetic leather note? The drydown is rapid, and this is gone in an hour, so it doesn't matter. Worth it if you like alcohol-based aftershaves, but unfortunately sold in plastic now.
