I'm still on the fence about Capucci Pour Homme. I had high hopes based on the reviews, but to me it is far less citrusy/herbal than it is woody/leather. It is definitely an old school, refined fragrance, one that I can imagine an older Italian gentleman wearing in his study in the evenings. It is extremely DRY and powdery rather than fresh and crisp to me. Some clue as to the thought behind the fragrance may be the box: an image of bird's eye maple wood (I believe), something which might be used to make a humidor for cigars. I bought and tried this in Summer, so I will save this for a winter evening and see if it works better for me. UPDATE: I have tried this in the cooler days of October, and this is definitely a winner for the cooler months. I am still not overly fond of the really dry opening, but I remedy that by layering a fresh and juicy spritz of 4711. The middle and drydown with this combo is fantastic, warm and sexy.

I put this on after a shower a few nights ago and fell asleep smelling it, as did my wife. Classic, chic and a wonderful chypre in the Italian style! This is not modern, but that is why I like it more...authentic charm, yet totally fresh and invigorating! Could definitely be unisex on the right woman, but I think this leans towards being masculine. The burst of lemon (mostly) & some lime and bergamot joining in is fantastic on top - fresh-squeezed! Most people today, except for those who know fragrance, would strictly classify this as a Spring/Summer daytime scent that needs warmth and sunshine. Well, a well-constructed chypre that has good mid and basenotes is actually year-round, like Capucci Pour Homme...and could most definitely be worn in the evenings of Spring, Summer and even Fall days. Cold Winter nights is about the only time you couldn't wear this out. However if you're staying inside and just took a nice, warm shower and want to smell amazingly fresh, clean and chic - 3-4 sprays of this juice and you awake the senses ;-) ! The florals are very nicely integrated - lavender, jasmine...that play nicely with the drydown of patchouli, very nice musk and leather. Classy. I would say that this is a fragrance for the 35 & up crowd of men who are confident, sensual and know what a gentleman smells like. If you lived on the Italian Riviera (or have visited as I have), this evokes wonderful memories. It creates its own sunshine, as I am writing this review on a rain-soaked day. One good spray on the back of my wrist and Capucci Pour Homme is radiating. 8/10 and a strong recommendation for those who understand fragrance and chypres! I find this to be rather similar to a reformulated masterpiece, Gianfranco Ferre for Man...which Vintage is one of my favorite male fragrances. Capucci Pour Homme captures the freshness and brighter top notes of the more recent, black metal bottle of GFF for Man, but with definitive Oakmoss. Update - full wearing today...weather is overcast and cool, but not windy. This is so vibrant and refreshing! While the citrus gets the attention here in reviews (and holds throughout the fragrance), it is the heart of florals and nice green notes the make this a wonderfully balanced chypre with the nice moss adding the touch in the base that enriches the entire scent (as Grottola pointed out). The leather is fresh and the musk is a just a hint past white - again adding touch more clean, warm depth. But, this never gets heavy (it is truly "fragrant" and uplifting) and retains its beauty and citrus/floral chypre vibe throughout. Yes - and Capucci Pour Homme could be an everyday office scent as pointed out. Created 45 years ago and as invigorating as the fresh-squeezed, juicy citrus sitting on top of this chypre! After getting more light wearings before today (including just a few spritzes after showers), I was more and more impressed. This full wearing today brings my score up to 8.5/10!

Bon giorno! This evokes an Italian bakeshop or sidewalk trattoria. Pungent sweet orange and mulled cider with rich spices and a great masculine base of coffee, leather, patchouli. That sweetness punches through the dark basenotes to make this a refreshing and charismatic fragrance. Last 6+ hours on skin.

Pleasant and inoffensive citrus with herbal notes in the beginning, clean and dignified drydown. Resolves for me to citrus for the remainder of its relatively short ride, with a distinct overtone of Ivory soap. Even when applied liberally it's a relatively unmuscular fragrance, lacking stamina; I have difficulty believing that the '67 formulation had so little oomph. Currently available online at ridiculously low prices, this bottle is hard to condemn, but unlikely ever to take a major place in my rotation.

A fresh, clean, citrusy fougere which is in my perception a slightly mentholated (basil, anice) sort of mild lemonade (lavender, lime, lemon, bergamot, fruits). Following to a fruity-flowery middle, the dry down is mossy and woody but in a light and airy way. It is pleasantly old school and nice to feel fresh and clean. It lacks an high level of distinction leaning a bit over the casual-sporty side. This is for a dynamic kind of man.

not as strong as, but a dead ringer for versace l'homme. smells great, but not strong enough. smells like armani pour homme on the citrus notes, but exactly like versace. all the way. not a bad thing, especially if you like versace but find it too strong for the office.

Purchased a bottle recently in Italy for a bargain priceJust love it on my skin as it seems to last very well.Dont see it as cologney or as citrussy as eau sauvage or armani.Perhaps citrus at the very beginning but with a lovely classic clean smell that I cant put my finger on..
Didnt realise that this was over 40 yrs old and wish all the recent fragrances had this longevity ang originality.
Perfect for a summer afternoon when you dont want to smell like a lemon or a synthetic fruit bowl.
A true class act in my opinion and not something everyone else smells like that is gone in an hour!!

A true classic. As the others have pointed out, it's very similar to it's contemporary Dior's Eau Sauvage, but a little more clear, less obtuse and perfectly capable of holding it's own w/o comparison 40 years later! Love it!

Great for an evening out.

RECOMMENDED!

I came to Capucci pour Homme with high expectations. The reviews below compare it favorably to Eau Sauvage and Armani pour Homme, two of my favorite fragrances. Further, I appreciate a good moss note in some fougeres. I was disappointed in this one. The citrus which is high in ES and ApH is very, very low in CpH, almost miniscule. Believe me, I know ES and ApH very well, this is nothing like either of those excellent scents. Further, this does not have a sparking green moss scent like the superb Penhaligons English Fern or Trumpers Wild Fern. CpH emits a tough, brackish-brown scent reminiscent of the obnoxious Aqua di Selva or the wizzened and leathery Azzaro. Uggh. The dry-down mellows a bit, and intermittent nice notes emerge, but generally it has a heavy, dull, powdery finish. Peace be unto its fans, this one is not for me.
