Bought a bottle of this while on vacation, and I associated it with floods of wonderful memories. I got a bit of tropical with this, and a whole lot of carnation and honeysuckle. Every time I wore it I thought of what a good time I had and I was in a really good place at that time of my life. But all good things come to an end....I later had a boss who would drown in this fragrance then would call me to her (Design saturated) office while I was suffocating in a perfume inferno she would "ream me a good one", which, unfortunately is what I associate this fragrance with now. I still gave it the thumbs up it deserves.

The subject of most reviled fragrances was posed in an online forum and someone mentioned how despised her beloved Design was. She gallantly defended its compositional honor, both in her forum post and in her online review. She also sang the praises of Revlons Ciara and as a fellow lover of Ciaraanother vilified perfumeI trusted her opinion. I promptly picked up a bottle that I was sure had been languishing upon the shelves at TJ Maxx for several months. I spritzed my wrist at close range as I sat at my desk. I felt the vapors of this scent take over the room like a fog and I got scared. First thought: Oh damn, this s**t just got real! Second thought: Alright, now that I can breathe, its very much like Ciara with a big bouquet of loud white florals. The second thought brought on a sigh of relief. Just get past the first ten minutes and do not spray at close rangethis has the potential to be great keeping those two tips in mind. After the first ten minutes this mellowed out and transmuted into a white floral powerhouse. An hour after that, and for several hours thereafter, Design mellowed once again but became sharp and waxy, like an old school bar of soap. (Im thinking of Camay or Caress, sharp white florals and detergent.) Depending on your take of vintage soap scents, this is either heaven or hell. Design is a top-heavy fragrance; the civet base, which is at the beginning, is anything but smooth and subdued but it fades in time. For a fleetingly brief moment it resembles 1980s queen of over-the-top perfumes, Giorgio. Its shockingly not a sillage bomb nor is it a projectile missile of a scent unless it is overdone (and with a vintage such as this, it is a very real hazard here). I love soapy scents and I secretly love Ciara so this is an underappreciated work of vintage art that I am proud to have in my collection.

Good GOD, what a stink! Not only is this crap cloying and sickly sweet, but it has a repulsive hint of plastic to it. My great-grandmother hates the stuff, and she's a 90-year-old who wears White Diamonds. THAT says something. It doesn't matter if a woman is hot or not. If she wears this, I WILL run for my very life.

it is like bug spray. not sharp but that scent is definitely there. it's something that i know i shouldn't like, but i do. just clean in a dull way. inoffensive. comforting in its wink of cleanliness. there is civet there but not in a raucous way. an almost peppery public bathroom cleanser. none of this sounds like a reason to buy it, and i probably won't again, i was just bored in walmart and grabbed the mini.

This has a Strong Siliage of Civet it just dominates this perfume it has a Waxy Lipstick kind of a scent it drowns out the other scents.

Not good. Imagine having a whole can of bug-spray explode inside a compact car. I bought a tester for my GF. She'll wear dollar store perfume, but she won't wear Design. Please avoid.

Design has become my signature scent. The first few hours the fresh florals blend well with my chemistry, then the combination woody notes and so soft florals linger for hours. I've worn many scents-but this is the one that always brings rave reviews from co-workers and even people in elevators! LOL.

I like Design occasionally, mostly because it reminds me of Fame (de Corday) from circa 1970, which was one of the first scents I loved. I can't wear this very frequently, but every once in a while, I crave it - applied lightly. It seems to work pretty well with my chemistry, too. It's a little sweet, but doesn't have the fruity tones that make so many sweet scents overbearing.

Last weekend, I was in the backyard weeding and trimming invasive trumpet vines, when caught a whiff of some flowery scent. It smelled like "Design" by Paul Sebastian. I thought it was most unusual, because our yard is pretty darn big, and our nearest neighbor is quite far. Who was wearing "Design" in my yard??? It was just me and the dogs. Well, I was hauling the trimmings out to the the bin in the back alley, and I saw these beautiful yellow flowers. I sniffed them, and it was "Design." I was shocked, so when my neighbor came out to throw his trash away, I asked him what this plant was. He said, "It's Spanish Broom." "Design" smells like Spanish Broom to me.

The first time I smelled "Design" was on a coworker who had come into the cold room to return the centrifuge rotor. She was a young woman, about mid 20's, and this was the 1990's. So I don't associate "Design" with old women, as some other reviewers do. It smelled lovely on her! But when I bought some for myself, it really did not smell the same on me at all. It smelled awful. So, I never wear it.

This smells like it would be a fun scent, until you put it on. It stank bad, yes, like some chemical waste, similar to bug spray. It's sparkly and sharp. Much too strong for me, not soft at all.
